Software Engineer

What will you do as Software Engineer? 
At Big Ass Battery we aim to help realize an emissions-free future and eliminate fossil fueled energy sources. As Software Engineer you develop high-quality software for battery management and control systems in the emerging field of high-tech battery systems. We do this by developing cutting edge energy storage solutions to the European market. We want to work with people who are excited by this goal and have the talent to deliver on it! You are involved in the entire development process from requirements to implementation and debugging. Your job is focused on but not limited to:

• Pioneering and creating new features that add value to emerging ecosystems within the world of battery energy
• Building the framework that enables smart behaviour of our products (f.e. machine learning)
• Optimizing code for performance, stability, and maintainability 
• Improving the architecture of complex software systems in order to productize our solutions and make a big ass impact on an emission free future
• Contributing tools to the team that bring us to the next level and improve our way of working

What do we expect you will bring to Big Ass Battery?

• A Master degree in software engineering, computer science or a similar field 
• Experience with C/C++ 
• Experience with Git 
• Experience in real-world software development; in short you have experience working on a product 
• You are enthusiastic about complex systems that contribute to the sustainable energy transition 
• You are keen to develop yourself despite the fact you are a specialist on certain topics. You always have a thirst for knowledge
• Familiarity with the Agile methodology

We build energy storage systems at the highest level: from battery cell to complete 10ft battery containers. Big Ass Battery is a Dutch company and we are located in Helmond. We didn't fit in our previous office anymore so that is why we traded up in november 2023 to our new facility of 15.000 m2 and a total surface of 41.775 m2!
