System Architect - Battery Storage (m/f)

We envision a pragmatic system architect joining our team, are you the one?

What will you do as System Architect - Battery Storage?
As a System Architect you play a crucial role in the "big ass" technical success of our new 200 KwH mobile solution. You will define the system architecture, leading towards a feasible concept and final product. Of course, staying within the boundaries of given restrictions imposed by system and stakeholder requirements, costs and planning considerations. You will guide, train, motivate and inspire our multidisciplinary team of bad ass engineers to create a great product. A product that will catapult Big Ass Battery into the stratosphere!

Your challenge will focus on but is not limited to:

  • Analyze system and stakeholder requirements in order to gain a clear understanding of objectives and deliverables
  • Create a thorough system decomposition in order to create building blocks that leads to a high quality battery energy storage solution
  • Collaborate closely with diverse teams, including hardware and software engineers, manufacturing experts, and safety specialists
  • Proactively identify and tackle risks, developing strategies to address and prioritize them effectively
  • Your strength lies in the fact you can create strong, well documented and substantiated (concept) choices
  • You are able to communicate these choices to the different teams in order to put them into action
  • Involvement with testing and validating (V-model) the product and handing it over to our production team

What do we expect you will bring to Big Ass Battery?

  • Our preference is a Master education in f.e. Systems & Control and/or Electrical Engineering
  • A proven track record as System Architect within a technical environment and with a tangible product
  • You are pragmatic and you have built cool stuff with your own hands! We choose practicality over analytical mindset any day!
  • Extensive software knowledge (PLCnext, C++)
  • Extensive knowledge of power electronics
  • Knowledge of System Engineering mindset and relevant tools (f.e. Draw.io)
  • Excellent leadership with a strong dose of humor, an informal attitude and strong people skills
  • Highly motivated mindset, high responsibility and ability to work effectively with a lot of freedom
  • Experience in a start- or scale-up environment with the restrictions that come with it is a strong advantage
  • Experience with fast chargers is considered a plus

What do we have to offer you?

  • a more than fitting salary based on your experience and on top of that we offer a 13th month
  • annually you receive 25 vacation days and 13 ATV days (based on a 40-hour working week). Enough time to recharge your personal battery!
  • we follow the collective labor agreement for "Technisch Installatiebedrijf"
  • a laptop and reimbursement for the use of your personal phone
  • in addition, you work together with energetic and passionate colleagues who are willing to share knowledge and we give you the opportunity to develop as a professional and as a person

About Big Ass Battery 🔋
We are Big Ass Battery; a fast-growing scale-up in the premier league of the energy transition. We build energy storage systems at the highest level: from battery cell to complete 10ft battery containers. Big Ass Battery is a Dutch company and we are located in Helmond. We didn't fit in our previous office anymore so that is why we traded up in november 2023 to our new facility of 15.000 m2 and a total surface of 41.775 m2! When you join our team, you not only contribute to the production of batteries, but you also contribute to the growth of a company with big ass ambitions. Our batteries are an important part of the solution to the current challenges we face in the energy transition. For example, you can place a Big Ass Battery at an event location or for charging electric cars. Or on a construction site where a sustainable company wants to use electric excavators and other power tools. Companies can even link a revenue model to the use of the Big Ass Battery. Agricultural companies, for example, use the Big Ass Battery for solar energy storage. In short, plenty of possibilities.
