Head of Operations

About the role:

Bioptimus mission is to accelerate biomedical innovation, by building the reference foundation model of biology  that will unlock AI superpowers to the biomedical ecosystem.  Bioptimus is a well-funded and fast-growing start-up headquartered in Paris, incorporated in October 2023.

As the Head of Operations, you will play a critical role in supporting and scaling our operations and ensuring operational excellence across all departments. You will work closely with the co-founders and other senior leaders to develop and implement the organisation, processes and activities that will fuel the company growth and success.

In particular, you will:

  • Support Growth & Delivery
      • Support the creation of the roadmap & resource allocation
      • Anticipate investments, organisational changes and resources needed
      • Support the delivery of the models & products
      • Oversee key contracts and relations with customers, vendors, partners and other stakeholders
      • Coordinate corporate functions (realised in-house or provided by external partners)
  • Talent & Culture
      • Organise talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies to build a world-class team.
      • Organise rituals, process, tooling
      • Organise internal seminars / offsites
  • Performance reporting & Stakeholder communication
      • Serve as the liaison with the board, ensuring clear communication and alignment on company objectives
      • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational success
      • Report on operational performance to the CEO and Board of Directors
      • Support Fundraising activities
  • Risk Management and Compliance:
      • Oversee risk management strategies, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
      • Implement robust systems for managing operational risks

About you

Required qualifications / experience:

  • Master Degree in Business or Science (or equivalent experience) 
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high stake environment (startup, strategy consulting etc) with a proven track record in scaling operations
  • Familiarity with all business functions including Strategy, HR, Finance, Legal and IT
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A ‘team-first’ kind of attitude
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Be fun to work with

Ways to standout:

The following are not necessarily required, but would be a plus:

  • Understanding of AI technologies
  • Understanding the biomedical ecosystem
  • Previous experience in a high growth, VC backed company
  • International and multicultural work experience
