Your role in our team:

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our expanding Bioinformatics team. You will be joining a highly collaborative team of computational biologists with diverse skill sets who work together to lead decisions and analysis in discovery and characterisation of reprogrammed cell lines. This is an opportunity to join one of the best stem cell reprogramming start-ups and conduct research with a real-world impact.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Working collaboratively with the wider computational biology team and experimental stem cell scientists under supervision of a senior scientist.
  • Contributing to the design and execution of our ambitious research programmes for uncovering core transcriptional programs that define human cell types
  • Performing custom computational analyses and reporting of results to team members across R&D
  • Development and application of computational methods that identify candidate transcription factors for reprogramming of iPSCs to specific cell types

You…

  • Have a PhD in computational biology or a related biological field with a strong bioinformatics component; or equivalent experience
  • Enjoy tackling research challenges through critical thinking, scientific rigour and inventiveness.
  • Are detail-oriented with strong organisational skills for tracking data and recording downstream analysis
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic team environment and are comfortable working to tight timelines and managing workload and priorities

With essential experience in…

  • Demonstrable experience in the application and/or development of computational biology tools and methods to derive novel insights and hypotheses about the regulation of cell type development or cellular state.
  • Demonstrable experience in the analysis and interpretation of transcriptomic (bulk and/or single cell RNA-seq) data.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such Python and/or R.
  • Good knowledge of general bioinformatics tools, resources, and public databases.
  • Working knowledge of statistical approaches in data science.
  • Solid biological knowledge and interest.
  • Ability to clearly communicate requirements for and results of bioinformatics analyses to wet lab biologists.

...and possibly....

  • Experience in the development and/or application of computational methods for the identification of reprogramming factors for cellular conversions.
  • Experience of working with genomics data, such as ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, Hi-C and/or other genomic technologies.
  • Familiarity and interest in gene regulatory networks and mechanisms of transcriptional regulation.
  • Experience in applying machine learning methods to omics data.
  • Experience with working in a cloud computing environment.
