Your role in our team:

Reporting to Director Manufacturing, the Shipping Specialist will work cross-functionally to facilitate the smooth process for shipments, primarily to the US, and support revenue generation, maintain supply chain integrity, product viability and ensure timely and compliant clearance of products. 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring timely and compliant clearance of products to US facilities/customer locations.
  • Interpreting and implementing government import regulations & advising on long-term strategies for export to the US.
  • Managing the end-to-end shipment processes for identified cell product shipments to ensure they are completed in line with customers’ requirements.
  • Designing cost effective solutions, liaising with third party offices and suppliers.
  • Be responsible for classifying imported goods with HTS codes and Partner Government Agency (PGA) data (including FDA, USDA, EPA).
  • Validate accuracy of commercial invoices to comply with US Customs requirements (including but not limited to, importer of record, country of origin, valuation, currency and Incoterms).
  • Provide timely clearance instructions on the release of shipments by government agencies. 
  • Provide instructions to internal stakeholders including the commercial teams and external customers regarding the bit.bio import process to ensure communication and accurate shipping is maintained. 
  • Identify and deal with issues as they arise, proactively implement corrective measures and escalate appropriately to ensure product viability. 
  • This role will have the opportunity to advise strategically on the longer term growth of our export capabilities into the US and other international markets.

 You…

  • Have a minimum Bachelor degree in a relevant subject/related field of study (or equivalent experience).
  • Have demonstrable experience in a shipping and/or customs role within the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Are agile and customer focused (internal and external stakeholders).
  • Have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to tight deadlines.
  • Have excellent communication & numeracy skills (both written and verbal).
  • Have exceptional organisational skills and acute attention to detail.
  • Have a track record of showing initiative and problem-solving skills.

With essential experience in…

  • Significant experience of exporting products (ideally cells or other temperature controlled regulated products or biologics).
  • Experience in shipping primarily to the US, with additional experience in other international markets.
  • Knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience of using an ERP system, preferably NetSuite.
  • Identifying and implementing processes to maintain supply chain integrity, product viability and reduce the number of failed or delayed shipments.
  • Proven experience of introducing process and continuous improvement strategies to evaluate and evolve shipping processes to fulfil customer needs and enhance capabilities.

…and possibly…

  • IATA Dangerous Goods Certification OR willingness to get certified.
  • Experience of working with stem cells.
