What is this role about?

The Operational Risk Manager at Bondora will be instrumental in developing and maintaining our operational risk management framework. This role involves identifying and mitigating operational risks, overseeing risk incident management, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, the Operational Risk Manager will:
  • Develop and maintain operational risk incident management framework
  • Lead assessment of operational risks and their controls
  • Implement Risk Appetite / Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for operational risk
  • Monitor operational risk profile based on risk incidents, KRIs, risk heatmaps
  • Oversee implementation of risk mitigation measures by risk owners aimed to avoid excessive operational risk taking or remediate risk incidents and KRI limit breaches
  • Regularly report on operational risks to management bodies
  • Conduct training sessions
  • Contribute to business continuity planning

What would ensure success in this role?

  • Minimum of 3 years in operational risk management within financial services, preferably in a banking environment.
  • In-depth understanding of financial services, operational risk management practices and related regulatory environment.
  • Proficiency with SQL, BI tools (such as Tableau, Looker).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder engagement and establishing clearly defined policies and procedures.
