Working close with the product and technical leadership, to deliver the roadmap according to plan, at high quality and with technical excellence. Build and manage several teams of talented engineers with high commitment to deliver, and who feel proud to work at Charles. Collaborate with the rest of the organization so that Engineering deliverables are visible, anticipated, and well understood.   

THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Teams management 

  • Hire and welcome each of your engineers on their day one and support them in finding the professional challenge and career path at Charles. You care about each of them becoming a better engineer and colleague every sprint 

  • Build the teams by recruiting the best talent on the market, manage effective career paths, communicating product vision and strategy to the team, and guiding team members in continually improving their performance. 

  • Maintain clear technical direction by establishing ownership, ensuring teams technical documentation, driving design and code reviews. 

  • Maintain an environment that fosters high commitment and focus within the teams by continually improving the rituals, establishing relevant habits and providing clear guidelines.  

  • Responsible for prompt response to incidents and high priority support cases according to agreed SLAs.  

  • You will be the head coach for your cross functional teams building their delivery capabilities up to the challenges of the business. Review retrospectively productivity KPIs to continually improve the team results and delivery pace. 

  • Assess and escalate any organizational risks and issues to the leadership team to enable prompt decision making and fast remedial actions.  

  • Create engineering business cases for supporting new product initiatives including capacity, skill, supplier resources 


Delivery management 

  • Make sure requirements are captured, analyzed and validated with internal stakeholders and customers, by collaborating with the Product Owners assigned to your teams. 

  • Accountable for the delivery phases of the product process for epics spanning multiple sprint delivery. 

  • Responsible to lead the teams in producing accurate estimations and identify dependencies of the technical implementation. 

  • Align business stakeholders with the Engineering organization by managing expectations and updating them on any relevant information and progress updates. 

  • Achieve a comprehensive epic backlog and release forecast by collaborating with designers, POs, and relevant engineers. 

  • Produce, update and execute the epic delivery plan including timeline and capacity planning from conception to adoption.

  • Make sure project risks and issues are addressed, follow up on actions to ensure results, and remove impediments from the technical team  

  • Sign off the delivery with the main stakeholders, and ensure supporting documentation available to the business stakeholders

  • Contribute to the overall roadmap planning process in alignment with the other Engineering managers

  • You are aware of the different needs that a startup has vs. an enterprise software product and guide the team to slowly adapt for larger clients needs over time 

  • Tech understanding, you know enough from everything (Frontend, Backend, Database, API, infra, security, testing,…) to judge any technical decision and topic.
