QA Engineering Lead

As a QA Engineering Lead, you own the quality of Product development and the quality gates in the continuous delivery to production. You achieve this by building the QA team that delivers on the quality aspect, by evolving the Product quality process and the efficiency of its tactical execution, and by collaborating with the rest of the organization over the perceived product quality.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Manage and grow the QA team by recruiting excellent talent, and establishing clear technical ownership and responsibilities for each team member.
  • Ensure clear, concise, and up-to-date technical documentation of all cardinal flows of the product, test automation, reporting, and CD-quality gates.
  • Provide capacity planning of the team, a well-maintained QA backlog, and estimations for roadmap and sprint planning.
  • Respond promptly to test and gate failures and escalate priority issues within the agreed timelines.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders on Product quality awareness and process improvements.
  • Drive the Charles QA automation base growth on a regular basis.
  • Own and drive the quality KPIs for continual improvements, such as coverage, impact, case resolution cycle, and so on.
  • Establish technical excellence by the habits of code reviews, knowledge sharing, learning paths, and engaging with the wider engineering community at Charles.


  • Extensive experience in leading and growing a team of QA professionals in a SaaS product company
  • Proven track of hands-on experience as both creative tester and automation developer, including API testing, e2e testing, performance/load/stress testing, test design, and creative manual testing.
  • Proficient in CI/CD tooling from a quality gate perspective to drive reporting and semi-automatic deployment in close collaboration with a platform team.
  • Passionate about delivery of high-quality products
  • University degree in business or computer science, or equivalent experience of 3+ years
  • Experience in building teams for new projects or within a startup eco-system.
  • Have experience with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber or Robot, as well as integrating with Cypress.
  • Experience in security-aware testing using tools and vendors, such as penetration, vulnerability, disaster recovery testing
  • You have domain knowledge in messaging, commerce, customer relationship management or alike
