Your Team:

How You’ll Make an Impact:
Data Protection Strategy & Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies in line with GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, and other national and international privacy regulations.
- Serve as the point of contact for regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders regarding data protection inquiries.
Risk Management & Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs):
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and ensure risk mitigation strategies are in place.
- Monitor compliance with privacy laws and assess potential risks associated with data processing activities.
Training & Awareness:
- Develop privacy training programs to educate employees on best practices in data protection and security.
- Promote a culture of privacy-by-design across departments.
Handling Data Subject Requests (DSRs) & Breach Management:
- Oversee and manage data subject access requests (DSARs) in compliance with GDPR timelines.
- Lead incident response efforts for data breaches, ensuring timely reporting and mitigation.
Liaison with Legal & IT Security Teams:
- Work closely with IT, legal, and compliance teams to align security measures with privacy regulations.
- Provide guidance on data processing agreements (DPAs) and third-party vendor assessments.
Who You Are:
- Minimum of two (2) years of working experience in the role of data protection lead or data protection officer and a related diploma or certificate, or three (3) years of working experience in the role of data protection lead or data protection officer.
- Knowledgeable in terms of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the relevant local data protection legislation in European countries. Specialization in the Data Protection local legislation of Malta is a bonus.
- Strong understanding of the ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC).
- Holding one or multiple of the following certifications is a bonus: CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or other relevant DPO certifications.
- Prior experience with FIPPA, PIPEDA, and ISO 27001 frameworks is a bonus.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as lead and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-initiative and decisive decision-making are key qualities that the candidate must possess.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision, balanced with a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive team culture.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience in Atlassian (Jira, Confluence) is a plus.
