The Role:
Meptik is looking for an experienced, full-time Systems Designer to join our expanding team.
The Systems Designer works with Meptik’s Creative, Project Management, Sales, and Marketing departments, as well as stakeholders at Disguise, external companies and strategic partners to bring complex technical briefs to life. They will be a key collaborator from a project’s conception through to delivery.
The Systems Designer works with the Senior System Designer and Director of Technical Operations to design complex technical systems and propose workflows and solutions, specifically related to the Virtual Production (VP), Broadcast, Extended Reality (XR), Experiential and Live Event fields.
Based on global project demand, interaction across other regions and time zones will be required to support the global team.
A successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and proven System Design AND/OR Broadcast experience.
The Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of system design including technical design, drafting and system schematics
- Interact with the sales team and clients to determine the client needs, scope of work, key milestones and budget forecast. Making sure we provide innovative and creative solutions within the clients budget
- Design, draw and specify LED volumes, lighting, audio and projection systems in 2D and 3D
- Research, develop and deploy new workflows to aid in developing internal best practices and processes related to system design
- Create documentation in relation to technical systems being installed on client sites. This can include but not be limited to; System Configurations, Equipment Lists, As-Built documentation, photography, video recordings, operational and maintenance documentation
- Provide technical guidance to on-site teams during the installation phase
- Advise the Operations Team on technical procurement
- Visit partner sites including system integrators, approx. 4 times a year
- Visit client sites as needed, approx. 4 times a year , including in the sales discovery stage and installation period
The requirements
- Proven skills required to create and deliver system design and integration in EITHER Broadcast OR Virtual Production (VP) OR Extended Reality (XR) OR Experiential and Live Event fields
- Experience in integrating EITHER lighting and audio systems OR rigging solutions OR tracking and automation into AVL Systems
- Experience in Network creation and management. Previous experience of SMPTE2110 is desirable
- Experience with LED screens and / or projectors and associated peripherals
- Proficiency in power distribution for live events / film / TV
- Experience with 2D CAD Software (AutoCAD AND/OR VectorWorks)
- Experience with 3D CAD software (AutoCAD AND/OR VectorWorks AND/OR Rhino AND/OR others)
- Experience creating system schematics (ConnectCAD AND/OR AutoCAD)
- Experience working on client site
- Experience managing multiple projects concurrently, to budget, on time and to a high quality
- First class communication between internal & external stakeholders and vendors
- Analytical and with a problem solving mentality
- Team oriented
- Proactive, innovative and forward thinking
