FERNRIDE is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to Diversity & Inclusion because we value and celebrate everyone's differences and individuality. We strive to create an open, safe space in which you feel empowered and authentic.

What will you do

At FERNRIDE, we call the team that provides most of the services and infrastructure as well as verification efforts, the Engineering and Verification Ecosystems (EVE) team. As the foundation of FERNRIDE engineering, the EVE team is poised to build the most productive engineering team in the world with an engineering system that scales, rock-solid cloud platforms and world class verification. From source management to deploying to individual vehicles roaming around different yards, from distributed building/testing to orchestrating container-based integration tests in the cloud, from customising and installing OSs and firmware to building CLI and web services and applications, we have it all covered.

At EVE, you will work with a diverse technology stack that comprises C++, Rust, Python, Java, Kotlin, React, Typescript, Bazel, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS, GitHub, Linux, embedded systems, Bash, Ansible, etc. Our team is impactful and has high leverage: we make the entire engineering organization more productive as well as provide services to our business developers and customers. You will have visibility into every other engineering team and their systems and engage in helping and mentoring them.

Leave your footprint by:

  • designing and optimising robust network architectures that ensure seamless communication within remote-controlled and autonomous vehicles, collaborating closely with Systems Reliability Engineers (SREs) to guarantee high uptime and reliability across all network infrastructures.
  • leading the way in mobile network solutions, by developing and implementing cutting-edge mobile networking strategies that keep our trucks connected in the most challenging environments, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • bridging the gap between hardware and the cloud, by integrating network solutions that work flawlessly from our trucks' onboard systems to our cloud-based analytics and control platforms, facilitating real-time data exchange and operational efficiency.
  • elevating our network monitoring and automation systems, by contributing to our network management tools and practices, which form the backbone of FERNRIDE's ability to scale operations and maintain system health across vast geographic areas.

What you will bring to the team?

  • Networking Fundamentals: Proficiency in networking concepts (TCP/IP, UDP, VPNs, DNS, HTTP/S), VLAN, Multicasting, network architectures, and protocols, especially those relevant to high-reliability and low-latency networking.
  • Wireless and Mobile Networks: Expertise in mobile networking solutions (4G/5G), including knowledge of cellular network architecture, SIM management, and mobile security aspects. Experience with Wi-Fi, satellite communication, and other forms of wireless communication is crucial.
  • Certifications: Certifications like CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or specialized training in automotive networking technologies can also be beneficial
  • Vehicle Networking: Familiarity with vehicular networking technologies such as CAN bus or Ethernet for vehicles. Understanding of the challenges and solutions for networked systems in a mobile environment, including connectivity management and network redundancy.
  • Software Skills: Practical experience with network configuration and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform). Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash for network automation and tool development.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including software developers, systems engineers, and product managers
