Alpha Grid is an agency specialising in multi-platform content for elite audiences – business, financial and societal leaders and high net worth individuals. We produce editorial and commercial content, which is journalistic in nature – video, events, webinars, digital, print, social and more. We specialise in helping companies to use content to engage hard-to-reach decision makers in key markets globally.

The Role / Position Overview
Currently, more than half of our content productions are commissioned by FT clients - creating Partner Content that sits on FT.com. The core purpose of this newly formed role is to grow Alpha Grid’s client-direct business - i.e. commissions to produce content for firms’ own platform marketing and events which we have secured independently of the FT.
Working alongside our Strategic Growth and Comms Director, the New Business Director role will target the growth of our direct client base, and their average spend, at speed, combining branded content consultancy with business development and account management.
We receive very few formal briefs for this work so most business needs to be developed proactively, through a variety of lead generation methods that include tailored marketing campaigns, networking high-level contacts and identifying and targeting businesses that would benefit from our services.
Candidates should have the level of understanding of business and finance required to consult with those clients who come to us with an idea or a problem, and to win their business by helping them to define their own needs before then developing a strategy for them and executing effectively.
Required Skills / Experience
- Entrepreneurial skills and self-motivation in proactive selling
- A proven track record in business-to-business sales
- Sufficient knowledge of business, finance and geopolitics to converse with and consult to our elite client base
- Creativity in strategic vision – both for the growth of our business and with respect to developing client solutions
- An understanding of content solutions and production techniques including approximate costs and timescales
- A familiarity with our competitive landscape
In summary, the candidate will need to be a sophisticated and impressive communicator – able to talk candidly and with knowledge to clients from director level down, to win friends and establish the trust required when selling consultative solutions.
