About the Team

The Production Support Team is looking for someone to help us consistently deliver the Newspaper and digital content on a daily basis.

 

The postholder will work closely with the editorial, advertising, print services and distribution teams and will be responsible for developing new and adapting existing tools and operational processes to fit with the demands of supporting a distributed support model.

 

About the Role

The Digital & Print Production Controller role is very varied and will be across all of the print production products and processes, delivering to tight deadlines. It will be responsible for managing the delivery of newspaper publications to multiple global Web offset print sites, digital and airline customers, as well as troubleshooting any issues that may arise. 

 

The role involves a rota that covers the FTs six-day production cycle (Sunday to Friday) and adheres to Product & Technologies hybrid working model.

 

  • Provide the central contact between Editorial, Advertising, Distribution and Print Sites during production periods.
  • Releasing of Newspaper pages and digital editions to print sites and 3rd party hosting companies, within a specific timeframe. Thus meeting the print production and distribution deadlines.
  • Manage FT’s Production systems
  • Troubleshoot issues within pages & troubleshoot prints site systems to ensure seamless print production
  • Managing, coordinating, tracking, resolving and reporting on incidents/problems with a view to continually improving customer outcomes
  • 3rd party supplier management including fault logging, as well as tracking and managing SLAs.
  • Developing and integrating new/existing tools to continually improve services. 
  • Requesting improvements to services by analysing trends/patterns and identifying gaps/requirements

About You 

  • Ability to keep calm and work to tight deadlines, in a fast paced environment, working under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Newspaper/Magazine printing process
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate well with other departments and external suppliers, including building and maintaining relationships with a range of individuals
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work, including evening shift-work.
  • Confident decision maker and able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • Experience using Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign or similar software is advantageous
  • Organised and self-sufficient

How we work

Our hybrid setup means staff are expected to come into the office 2 days a week on average. We operate flexibly and thus this 2 day a week figure should be taken as a general ratio of the time you will spend in the office.

 

Our office is located across the street from St. Paul's Cathedral and is easily accessible from all corners of London. There are the main train terminals such as Liverpool Street, Moorgate, Blackfriars, City Thameslink or Waterloo all situated within walking distance or there are several tube stations within a few mins walk such as Mansion House (District or Circle line), St. Paul's (Central line), Bank (Central or Waterloo & City line) or Barbican (Central, Hammersmith & City or Metropolitan lines).
