The Role / Position Overview

Investors' Chronicle is looking for a personal finance writer to join our Financial Planning and Funds team, initially on a fixed term of up to one year.The personal finance writer will report to the Financial Planning Editor and the Funds Editor and will be responsible for delivering financial planning and funds content across online, print, audio and film, that fits with our core goals of providing inspiring, informative, actionable, authoritative, insightful and timely material for our audience of private investors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Generate ideas that respond to, and are appropriate for the current economic and market backdrop
  • Write features, comment/opinion pieces as agreed with the FP and Funds editors and to agreed deadlines
  • Set up, record and write interviews with leading fund managers, as agreed with the FP and Funds editors
  • Work closely with the Ideas Editor and the News editor and to generate news and fund/investment trust ideas for those sections of the publication
  • Attend daily, weekly and monthly team meetings
  • Develop/expand contact with experts in the industry to ensure that we are speaking to high calibre sources
  • Contribute to our weekly podcast from time to time
  • Speak/chair at investor events
  • Have a good understanding and knowledge of the pension, investing and tax landscape in the UK, and the ability to write knowledgeably on a wide range of topics including pensions, tax, risk, charges, platforms, investing styles and strategies, stock market sectors, investment trusts, ETFs and funds.
