Job Purpose
MandateWire is a subscription business covering the investment activities of institutional investors in North America, Europe Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
The North America Editor is an exciting role for someone who wants to develop a range of skills while working with a global team. The successful candidate will report into MandateWire’s London-based Managing Editor and, on a daily basis, manage and edit the reports of a team of eight journalists.
A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $115,000 - $121,000. To ensure pay fairness, the successful candidate will be offered a salary within the estimated salary range based on a number of considerations including but not limited to: skill set; experience and training; certifications; and other business and organisational needs. The disclosed range estimate is for our NYC office and has not been adjusted for other locations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

Editing stories for daily news emails;

Managing a team of eight journalists, ensuring they meet their goals develop their skills and maintain output

Interviewing and training of new staff when necessary

Writing clean news reports based on interviews with investment officials from pension funds, charities, insurers and other institutional investors;

Producing broader, data-based editorial content for monthly and quarterly analysis of industry trends;

Liaising with MandateWire teams in other regions – London, Manila and Thailand as needed.

Contributing to the development of MandateWire with new ideas and assisting with the expansion of the product.
Other key roles the Editor will be expected to fill:

Demonstrating what is expected of a high-performing member of the MandateWire editorial team;

Checking entry of reporters work into the CMS and tagging accuracy on news reports;

Setting a good example to team members by maintaining strict adherence to deadlines
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications / Capabilities / Skills / Experience

Knowledge of financial terminology and the institutional investment industry;

Experience interviewing senior executives;

Experience editing for a daily news service;

Superb organizational skills to manage time effectively, scheduling calls, inputting data and meeting the daily, monthly and quarterly deadlines;

Ability to analyze large amounts of data and identify relevant material;

Good level of computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
