Job Purpose / Role Overview

The role is responsible for various financial reporting tasks across all FT entities, which includes but is not limited to intercompany transactions, preparing balance sheet reconciliations for various accounts, assistance with fixed asset accounting tasks, assistance with office of national statistics surveys, and other various month-end activities.

Main Duties / Key Responsibilities

  • Process intercompany transactions throughout the month for all FT entities and at month-end ensure intercompany balances agree across the group.

  • Complete intercompany reconciliations at month-end for all entities.

  • Assist with the calculation of intercompany interest on intra-group balances.

  • Raise payment requests to ensure intercompany balances are cleared down on a monthly basis, where applicable.

  • Liaise with regional finance teams to understand the nature of intercompany transactions that need to be booked.

  • Monitor the intercompany accrual account.

  • Book additional transfer pricing entries as required.

  • Book fixed asset accruals on a monthly basis.

  • Run depreciation for assigned entities in line with the time-critical month-end timetable.

  • Perform asset transactions such as asset creations, transfers, reclass and retirements.

  • Set up assets in the sub ledger by category and location and with related depreciation start date and rate.

  • Ensure depreciation is charged only when the asset is available for use and the Useful Economic Life is consistent with group policies.

  • Manage and maintain ONS surveys.

  • Assist UK team with ad hoc tasks as required.

Person Specification

Formal Education and/or Certification:

  • Certified Public Accountant and/or Degree holder in Accounting or related disciplines, or equivalent qualification in professional institutions

Length and Type of Job Relevant Experience:

  • Relevant experience in Financial/Management Accounting
  • Preferably knowledgeable Oracle Essbase
  • Experience in a publishing/advertising/media environment
  • Proficiency in computer skills such as MS Excel, Google sheets and accounting system (preferable Oracle)

  • Able to work independently, willingness to learn and strike for improvement, detail-minded with strong sense of responsibility
  • Self-motivated with strong sense of ownership and commitment to tasks and time with great attention to details
  • A team player who can build and maintain effective working relationship within the team and across the business communities
