About the team

The FT.com & Apps Product Group are responsible for the large majority of the consumer facing products of the digital FT business. The FT.com web experience, the consumer subscription offerings, the FT.com app and exciting new products coming soon! 

We now have a unique opportunity for a talented analyst looking to progress their career. As a Lead Analyst, you will become the subject matter expert for data and analytics related to our FT.com website and Android/ iOS apps. This will involve proactively identifying value-adding insights, and collaborating with other teams in the Analytics and Data departments to solve the businesses needs. You will be supported by, and will report into, the Data Analytics team, but will also have a dotted line into the FT.com & Apps Product Manager.  

About the Role

Over the next few years we want to significantly increase our number of individual subscribers. We want to do this by developing subscription products that meet the needs of new or more price sensitive audiences. We are looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, is masterful in experimentation and collaborative in their approach.

Main Responsibilities

Proactively spotting opportunities for value-adding insights

  • Self-motivated, with ability to manage and follow up on multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Experience leading and delivering analytics projects 

  • Keep up ­to­ date with developments in the digital media industry

Technical proficiency 

  • Senior Analyst experience and experience with web analytics

  • Experience of A/B or multivariate testing and statistical test design

  • Proven SQL and Excel skills, and experience working with analytical reporting tools, e.g. Looker/Tableau/PowerBI

  • Thorough, inquisitive, with an eye for data quality 

Communication and storytelling 

  • A strong focus on communicating and sharing compelling data insights with business stakeholders, helping to guide optimal Product strategies. 

  • Enthusiasm for data visualisation, and familiarity with techniques and tools

Stakeholder management 

  • Ability to manage and influence stakeholders; across both technical and non-technical departments

  • Closely collaborate with other Data and Analytics disciplines; BI, Data Science, Research, Data Platforms, etc. 

  • Manage numerous simultaneous projects and understand how to effectively prioritise workloads.

Mentoring and coaching 

  • Ability to mentor and coach more junior members of the team

  • Interest in managing more junior analysts.

How we work

We offer a strict 35 hour working week to all staff in our London office. Our hybrid setup means staff are expected to come into the office 2 days a week on average. We operate flexibly and thus this 2 day a week figure should be taken as a general ratio of the time you will spend in the office.

Our office is located across the street from St. Paul's Cathedral and is easily accessible from all corners of London. There are the main train terminals such as Liverpool Street, Moorgate, Blackfriars, City Thameslink or Waterloo all situated within walking distance or there are several tube stations within a few mins walk such as Mansion House (District or Circle line), St. Paul's (Central line), Bank (Central or Waterloo & City line) or Barbican (Central, Hammersmith & City or Metropolitan lines).
