We are looking for passionate and motivated students who are interested in pursuing a career in media to join our team! This program is an eight-week summer internship and is paid $15 per hour,

As an intern we want you to truly be part of the team and to make a meaningful contribution during your time on the team. Our internships are designed to involve you with hands-on project work from day one, you will face new challenges every day and work alongside career professionals. We want you to gain a better understanding of the professional field you aspire to work in, through learning experiences, and gain skills to ensure a successful transition there.
The internship will offer hands-on experience pitching, reporting and producing audio stories across a broad range of the FT's podcasts including the FT News Briefing and FT Weekend.
We are looking for candidates with a proven interest in multimedia journalism and some experience in podcast production. Knowledge of business, economics and financial markets is an advantage, and having the ideas and initiative to propose stories and execute them is a must.
The schedule involves a five day working week, with the days and hours dependent on newsroom demands. The team is in a hybrid work environment, with the intern expected to be in the office three days a week.
What You’ll Do
Researching and pitching audio story ideas which draw from the full range of FT coverage: business, finance and culture
Gathering tape and archive audio to bring stories to life
Coordinating and recording interview with FT journalists and other guests
Logging and transcribing tape
Producing and editing elements of FT podcasts, with guidance from team leader
What We’re Looking For
Journalism degree preferred
Audio or podcast experience preferred (Internship or other courses)
Good writing and editing skills
Good communication skills
Interest in finance and/or FT Weekend coverage
Must have experience working with Pro Tools or similar editing software

Proof of Vaccine
The FT requires that all US-based employees are fully vaccinated. We are required to collect proof of vaccination for the successful candidate.
Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after they have completed their vaccine series - either two doses for Moderna and Pfizer or one dose for Johnson & Johnson. At this time, boosters are not required.
A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $15.00/hr. To ensure pay fairness, the successful candidate will be offered a salary within the estimated salary range based on a number of considerations including but not limited to: skill set; experience and training; certifications; and other business and organisational needs. The disclosed range estimate is for our NYC office and has not been adjusted for other locations.
