The Role / Position Overview

The FT aligns award-winning advertising and events businesses with Thought Leadership and Content Creation expertise within Alpha Grid & FT Longitude.

Reporting in to the UK, the Management Accountant for business areas of Alpha Grid & Longitude will provide key management accounting & Finance support for the above business units with ownership, in partnership with the Senior Commercial Finance Business Partner and Finance Analyst, across all financial processes, reporting and business modelling

This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to gain experience working in a high-profile digital business that requires strong financial support in order to meet ambitious goals and targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of the Weekly Sales reports. 
  • Timely and accurate month end processing and reporting of revenues and costs (variable and overheads) and variance analysis as required by key stakeholders
  • Preparation of monthly revenue journals for accrued and deferred revenue and costs
  • Monthly headcount & payroll reconciliation
  • Preparation of monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Support in preparing timely and accurate quarterly forecasts for revenue and costs
  • Support in preparing the monthly/quarterly commission payouts
  • Assistance with the raising and reconciliation of sales invoices
  • First point of contact for external audit queries.
  • Contribution of ideas to help streamline our processes and develop our reporting to the business
  • Ownership of comprehensive, up to date, process documentation to aid the above
  • Timely and accurate maintenance of all procedure documentation relating to their area of responsibilities.
  • Ad hoc analysis and reporting as required by the business and the Senior Commercial Finance Business Partner


  • ACCA/CIMA part-qualified, a bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Financial Management or equivalent would be an advantage.
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience in a relevant finance environment.
  • Confident communicator with a variety of audiences and fluent in English (spoken and written) for regular interactions within the Finance team, the wider FT business, other support functions, and in some cases external third parties. This role will also have a high degree of virtual interaction (telephone, video and email) with the UK, US and other FT global offices. Clear communication and the ability and desire to integrate into a remote Global team is essential for success.
  • Demonstrable, intermediate level ability with MS Excel is essential (advanced level preferred).
  • Experience with Google suite, Oracle Accounts and Essbase would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrable analytical skills, comfortable with large financial data sets.
  • Effective organisation and time management skills, able to handle multiple requests and prioritise accordingly. 
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated with an ability to work independently. 
  • Great attention to detail
  • Proactive to understand stakeholder needs and take initiative to problem solve.
  • Technical experience with or the ability to adapt quickly to newly implemented general ledger systems as well as other supporting systems
