The Role / Position overview
The role of the senior designer sits within FT Creative, the FT’s in-house creative team, reporting to the head of design for FT Specialist. The design team works across the FT portfolio producing digital and print creative whilst developing and protecting the FT brand and wide range of sub brands within the portfolio.
FT Creative is part of the Communications and Marketing (CMG) function that works across the organisation to ensure the FT is positioned as an industry leader in quality digital subscriptions. The CMG team is the driving force behind the brand’s reputation ensuring that the FT is recognised as the brand that brings modern, responsible capitalism to life in line with our brand platform, The New Agenda.
The senior designer will be working on a wide range of briefs across FT Specialist products and services, the FT Group’s portfolio of B2B brands. You will play a crucial role in ensuring all marketing collateral has strong brand consistency, while assisting in the development and execution of concepts and integrated campaigns. This role is primarily digital although some print production experience is necessary. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of successful event design projects. In addition, you should possess strong conceptual skills that can be applied to editorial or marketing contexts.
You will mentor junior team members, manage senior stakeholders and support the wider team. You will be capable of working independently across multiple projects that at times can have a quick turnaround. You need to be a self-starter, resourceful, organised and have the ability to work with people at all levels while maintaining acute attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities and outputs

Create conceptual designs and lead on projects including branding and marketing campaigns

Develop and art direct visual assets for digital channels including display banner ads, emails, video and social media spanning across event design and integrated campaigns

Manage senior stakeholders and ensure creative solutions meet the business objectives

Create and update brand guidelines for new and existing brands

Keep up-to-date with competitors as well as the latest digital design trends and innovations to inform design thinking

Mentor junior designers and assist the wider team where necessary
