The Role / Position Overview

The FT is looking for a Risk Analyst to join us in helping to protect the FTs infrastructure, data and people from all forms of cyber attacks. As part of the cyber security team these will be some of your daily work:

● Working with internal teams across the FT to improve the security posture of their apps and processes.

● Provide bespoke security training for FTs Editorial division. Helping protect the next big story.

● Protect the business by investigating security incidents.

● Using the data from various security telemetry tools to define future policies for the business.

● Pen testing/Threat modelling to ensure we adopt a secure by default position.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

● Ensure that security controls and principles are embedded into the different systems and applications across the organization.

● Provide support to teams and help them secure their systems and applications effectively.

● Support security threat monitoring, detection, event analysis and incident reporting.

● Monitor network and system from detected events, analyze alarms and report on threats, resolving or escalating as required.

● Analyze and validate events to distinguish those that qualify as a legitimate cybersecurity incident as opposed to non-incidents or false positives.

● Document and manage incident cases.

● Educating the business on what is good practice, what are the current threats and how to avoid it.

● Conduct risk assessment to existing and new systems and applications.

● Provide security advice to project teams and internal stakeholders.

 

Person Specification:

Essential

● A knowledge of information security, with ideally an area of expertise. Interest in continually learning more.

● Excellent communication skills at all levels - spoken, written and presentation.

● Able to articulate security and risk to both technical and non-technical members of staff and stakeholders through their preferred medium, such as reports, visualisations or quantitative methods.

● Experience working in customer focused environments and aggregating and manipulating related user

 

Desirable But Not Essential:

● Prior experience of working using admin tools Windows/Mac/Linux

● Prior experience of Security/log monitoring tools

● Running phishing tests and staff training

● Experience of public speaking

● Experience of working along a multi-disciplined group of engineers in an agile delivery team

● Experience in using scripting languages

● Experience of network, web application and infrastructure pen-testing and fluency in using relevant tools
