About us

Here at the FT, gold-standard journalism is just the beginning. Over 500 people strong, our Product & Technology team keeps our tech secure and stable while delivering accelerated growth through cutting-edge information products. With well over a million subscribers achieved, we now have our sights set on doing our bit to contribute to the FT’s aim of a 3 million global paying audience. We know our plans rely on a diverse, dedicated and dynamic group of product, tech, delivery and data specialists - everyone’s welcome in this friendly, forward-thinking team.

The role

We are seeking a Senior 1 Engineer to join the Martech Team within the Internal Products (IP) group of the FT’s Product & Technology department.

The Martech team is currently working on a number of initiatives to further expand the set of tools and channels our Marketing stakeholders have at their disposal. Our vision is “To create a seamlessly integrated marketing technology ecosystem that boosts operational efficiency, enhances real-time customer engagement, and consistently delivers the best customer experience.”

As a Senior 1 Engineer in the Martech team, you, along with your peers, will be responsible for delivering innovative technical solutions that enhance and support the Martech team's vision and needs of the business and our stakeholders.

You will take a leading role in the delivery of initiatives, being actively involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle, while ensuring that our Martech and team remain healthy and well-supported.

The Internal Products group

IP’s mission is to enable our peers (in tech and beyond) to do their best work. We do this in a variety of ways: finding a team the right tool for the job, helping them automate the most tedious parts of their work so they can invest in the valuable tasks they truly care about, discovering new ways in which to bring value to the business, and more.

Most engineers rotate between several IP teams over the course of their first 12-18 months. Principal Engineers typically look after one or two of those teams. Senior engineers often lead them or projects within them.

Our engineering career progression framework is publicly available.

We are made up of the following feature teams in 2024:

Editorial Technology

Develop a set of modern applications for our Editorial staff to author, edit and publish thousands of news articles every week

CRM Technology

This Team looks after our Salesforce platform and the different applications used by our Sales teams.

Marketing Technology

Our team looks after the technical ecosystem that supports our Marketing teams, including our Marketing Automation platform that serves the roughly 8 million emails that are sent every week to our customers who subscribe to our content.
