Gaia's mission begins with the world’s first IVF insurance product that predicts fertility outcomes and insures against the risk of failure, a major moment for modernising the family planning process. Underpinning our product is a proprietary predictive technology that adds a layer of certainty to an expensive, complicated, desperate, opaque but resolutely hopeful space.

We have raised $30million in funding to date, our A round at the end of 2021 was led by Atomico (read why here). We are FCA regulated, and trade on the Lloyd's of London market as a cover holder of Beazley.

Credit at Gaia

Our mission is to make fertility treatments more affordable so anyone who wants to have a family can try. For the majority of people who experience infertility, the high upfront cost of treatment and low chances of success makes treatment inaccessible.

Our insurance solves the uncertainty around success rate covering for the cost of unsuccessful treatments. But in the successful cases, we offer our members a loan to pay for what they went through. Our current credit offer is unregulated and limited to 12months, 0%. We're expecting to be authorised as a lender in the following months and are expanding this offer to make our plans considerably more affordable and give further optionality to our current members.

In that context, we're looking for our first credit hire to own our portfolio risk, build our underwriting model and operation from scratch. While the demand for fertility treatment isn't affected by economic downturns, the demand for more financing options is dramatically increasing so this is a key and strategic role for Gaia.

The role

  • Build our credit decision engine, underwriting model and set up our debt management operation
  • Manage our current portfolio risk and plan for the transition post FCA authorisation
  • Own the pricing and profitability of our lending product
  • Be the credit subject matter expert at Gaia

The opportunity

  • Lead our credit function as we grow (portfolio size, product diversification and international expansion)
  • Lead our debt fundraising effort as we scale
  • Be a global subject matter expert as Gaia is first in its category, providing financial plans for fertility treatments.

The requirements

  • Experience in building credit decision engines and credit models for consumer loans. Good to have: experience in the conception phase of the product
  • Knowledge of debt management operations, how this affect profitability and customer satisfaction

About you

  • You are a self starter and are not afraid to start things from scratch
  • You are organised and can set up processes across various teams
  • You love complex problems and can think out of the box to make things work
  • You can work cross functionally to identify how the credit product will impact every part of the business
  • You can think strategically about the product, understand unit economics and how the credit part impacts it
