Job Title: Compliance Officer (Data Protection, Privacy & Corporate Support)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Compliance Officer who will be responsible for ensuring that the company adheres to legal standards, internal policies, and industry best practices across multiple areas, including data protection, privacy, and corporate compliance. You will play a key role in managing regulatory risks, ensuring data protection compliance, and supporting corporate governance as we scale our operations globally. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, SRE, and product teams, to ensure compliance across our enterprise-grade blockchain infrastructure services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Protection & Privacy Compliance:

  • Ensure full compliance with global data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and blockchain-specific regulatory frameworks.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor data privacy policies and practices across all products and services.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIA) and data protection impact assessments (DPIA) to identify potential risks associated with blockchain infrastructure.
  • Manage data subject requests (access, correction, deletion) in compliance with relevant data privacy regulations.
  • Collaborate with IT and DevOps teams to ensure that privacy-by-design principles are integrated into blockchain infrastructure, including RPCs and validators.

2. Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay up to date with evolving global regulatory environments related to blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and decentralized applications (Web3).
  • Ensure company-wide adherence to relevant regulations and industry standards, such as financial services regulations (where applicable), anti-money laundering (AML) policies, and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Monitor legislative changes and emerging risks and advise management on necessary compliance adjustments.
  • Liaise with legal and external counsel on regulatory matters and provide input on new legal developments affecting the blockchain space.

3. Corporate Support & Governance:

  • Maintain and update the company’s corporate governance framework, ensuring alignment with global best practices.
  • Develop and manage internal compliance policies and procedures to ensure ethical business operations across the organization.
  • Support contract management and provide compliance advice for partnerships and third-party agreements.
  • Ensure corporate documentation is well-organized and up-to-date, including board resolutions, policies, and audit documents.
  • Collaborate with other departments to train and educate staff on compliance standards and regulatory requirements.

4. Risk Management & Monitoring:

  • Establish and maintain a risk-based compliance monitoring program for blockchain infrastructure and decentralized applications.
  • Implement controls to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate any non-compliance risks through regular audits and compliance checks.
  • Manage incident response protocols related to data breaches or other compliance issues, ensuring timely reporting and remediation.

5. Blockchain & Web3 Ecosystem Compliance:

  • Understand and navigate the unique compliance challenges posed by blockchain technologies, decentralized infrastructure, and the Web3 ecosystem.
  • Develop compliance strategies for blockchain validator operations, testnets, devnets, and developer tools.
  • Provide thought leadership in blockchain regulatory compliance, contributing to best practices for the Ethereum validator community and other blockchain ecosystems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or compliance certifications (CIPP, CIPM, etc.) are a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in a compliance, legal, or risk management role, preferably in the blockchain, fintech, or tech industry.
  • Strong understanding of global data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and blockchain-specific legal challenges.
  • Experience with corporate governance and knowledge of compliance issues in rapidly scaling tech companies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex compliance concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive attitude toward risk management.
  • Familiarity with Web3, decentralized applications, and blockchain infrastructure (e.g., Ethereum, RPCs, validators) is highly desirable.
