Here at Generation Home, we have an ambitious goal: Helping everyone to become a homeowner.

Increasing prices, stagnant wages, high rents, and insufficient housing stock have put homeownership permanently out of reach for too many.

We are on a mission to transform the housing market: We’re broadening access to homeownership for aspiring first-time buyers, simplifying the home-buying process, and promoting our customers’ financial wellbeing through the smarter management of their home finances. Backed by leading institutional & angel investors, and a rapidly growing team, we’re set for an exceptional 2022.

The challenge is huge and we are looking for passionate people with diverse skills and backgrounds to add to our rapidly growing team. And that’s where you come in:

Your mission

The focus of our (cross-functional, agile) engineering teams is to solve our biggest customer problems by helping decide how (and why) we build our products and how these products will impact customer lives.

As an Engineering Manager at Generation Home, you will drive your team and hire the people around you. You'll play a key role in deciding how your team will contribute to our mission of bringing more people into homes.

Your role

Day to day, you will work on a combination of:

  • People management: The most important goal of our engineering managers is to build and help their engineering team grow to deliver exceptional products and delight our customers.
  • Product engineering: Our engineers work cross-functionally on the end to end delivery process of our products. Engineering managers support teams, working closely with product managers to help them identify opportunities to get our customers into homes.
  • Architecture: Your technical expertise will be vital for your team, providing them with guidance and advice on building scalable systems that integrate well with the work of other teams around them.
  • Building: You'll be hands-on, collaborating with your teammates to engineer the best mortgage lender in the market.

About you

We look for Engineering Managers with great product understanding that:

  • Care deeply about customers: we measure our success by how many people we bring into homes. If you're excited about solving customer problems, then do let us know!
  • Are great to get along with: some people want to get ahead, others want to get along, but we understand that we need to get along to get ahead. If you're a team player, then we'd love to hear from you.
  • Lead experience: we look for Engineering Managers with at least one year's experience in line management in teams of at least three engineers.
  • Are open to different technologies and tasks: Our engineering team is open to diverse coding backgrounds if you're willing to play with Ruby on Rails, React and TypeScript in a full-stack capacity. Knowledge of building end to end systems would be a plus.

The application process consists of a screening call, a tech interview, a values interview (both 1hr30m via video), and a 30 minute call with our founder.
