HR Wallingford’s Equipment, Technology and Innovation Group is a small to medium, high expertise team who develop and supply a comprehensive range of physical modelling technology for hydraulic, marine and coastal research facilities. With more than 70 years’ experience on our own modelling projects, our designs have been rigorously proven and updated for their application. For the past 30 years we have been sharing our technology and expertise with other model users, and are proud to have supplied equipment to more than 300 institutions worldwide
Examples of the equipment we deliver include wave generation systems, passive absorbing beaches, tsunami simulators, towing carriages, instrument positioning systems, force measuring equipment, dynamometers, and remote platforms.
Alongside our teams delivering world class engineering solutions to our clients, you will be leading a dedicated team to identify new opportunities to enhance our product portfolio and continue the organisation’s growth in strategic markets.
About the role
The role will allow you to actively promote the profile of the equipment we develop and to shape our existing strategic group marketing plan leading to organic growth of the group’s annual turnover by 30% over the next three to four years. The ideal candidate will combine commercial acumen with excellent organisation and communication skills to secure and monitor the delivery of existing and future projects.
With our equipment being of a specialist nature, the role would suit someone with an engineering or scientific background with extensive experience of leading and managing a dedicated team within the agreed FY budget.
Please note that the company has offices in both Wallingford and Manchester where this role could be located.
Main duties include:
- To develop and regularly review the group strategic marketing plan and promote HR Wallingford in the laboratory equipment sectors;
- Responsibility for recording, monitoring of our prospect together with all financial and export control regulations;
- Regular liaison with the Engineering, Production and Development teams to ensure our products fully meet the client requirements;
- Responsible for all bid preparation, tender submission and converting work won into projects;
- Responsibility for all project management delivery;
- Reviewing technical proposals, specifications, and other technical documentation;
- Responsible for the customer support team to provide a prompt response and rectification service to our clients;
- Potential for overseas travel in-line with our marketing strategy;
- Ensuring safety and quality first in all that we do.
