LOCATION:         Hybrid role with occasional visits to Peterborough office


SALARY:               £33,000 - £38,000 depending on experience


The Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade is the leading UK membership association for those working in exporting and importing. We are now seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Legal Specialist to join our Legal and Compliance Team to manage our contracts. This is primarily a remote role but will require occasional visits to our Peterborough or London office.



The successful candidate will work within the Legal & Compliance team and play a crucial role in creating and reviewing contractual documentation, managing documents, and ensuring compliance with organisational management systems and version control.



  • Contractual Documentation:
    • Draft, review, and finalize contractual documents including supplier contracts and terms and conditions.
    • Ensure all contractual documentation complies with legal standards and organizational policies.
    • Assist in negotiations and provide support in contract discussions.
  • Document Management:
    • Maintain accurate and organized records of all legal documents.
    • Implement and manage version control systems to ensure the latest documents are available and accessible.
    • Ensure all documents are stored securely and are easily retrievable.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all legal documentation complies with relevant ISO standards, particularly ISO 9001 and ISO 27001.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to maintain compliance with quality assurance standards.
    • Conduct regular audits to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO standards.
  • Organisational Support:
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of efficient organizational management systems.
    • Provide administrative support to the legal team as required.
    • Assist with special projects and legal research as needed.



  • This role requires at least 3 years of experience with commercial contractual documents and familiarity with ISO and Quality Assurance standards, specifically ISO 9001 and 27001.

  • Paralegal or other legal qualification
  • Lead Auditor qualification, or other qualifications in compliance auditing



  • 36.5 hours per week including 4pm Friday finish
