About the Role

In partnership with the business, take responsibility for the development, management and coordination of the business unit(s) budget/forecasts, financial reports and KPIs.

Including:

  • Collaborating with other team members to successfully produce the monthly reporting pack to allow for robust tracking of overall company costs and headcount to feed into the monthly processes.
  • Enabling better decision making through insightful and action-orientated management information and trend analysis.
  • Providing full financial business support to teams in the business areas supported, including financial assurance of business cases related to strategic change initiatives for these teams.
  • Partnering effectively with the business to produce cost budgets and forecasts.
  • Proactively seeking opportunities to improve ways of working.
  • Supporting with Ad hoc reporting for Finance Operations (Distributions).

 

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

  • Assisting with the production of the monthly reporting, driving automation and process improvements where possible.
  • As part of the Cost Report being responsible for the analysis of drivers of variances to Budget/Forecast for their business areas.
  • Providing accurate financial information to the business areas, as well as to feed into the Corporate Hub reporting deliverables related to these areas.

Junior Business partnering:

  • Partnering effectively with their business areas to produce the annual budget and forecasts as well as analysing performance and supporting other ad-hoc requests.
  • Working with the business teams to produce monthly variance analysis to succinctly explain the variances to Budget/Forecast.
  • Supporting the business areas on managing their budgets, including working with them on solutions for making savings if required.
  • Identifying risks and opportunities through insightful and action-oriented management information and trend analysis.
  • Understanding and communicating the drivers of performance variances and their implications to Heads of and Directors.

Processes and controls:

  • Supporting the monthly business unit area reporting and being responsible for the end-to-end processes in ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Ensuring financial controls are implemented and executed.
  • Proactively seeking to identify opportunities for process improvement projects within the team to add greater value to analytical, planning and reporting processes.
  • Identifying and implementing further opportunities for automation across systems.

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Part-qualified accountant or studying for these qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – including the ability to identify key messages and summarise complex information to non-finance people.
  • Excellent data gathering, reporting and analysis skills.
  • Excellent Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
