The Regional CFO for East Africa (Kenya and Uganda) will play a pivotal role in driving financial strategy and operational excellence across the region. Reporting to the SVP Finance and the Regional CEO for East Africa, this role encompasses leadership across core finance functions, including accounting, controlling, financial operations, and treasury management.
This is a unique opportunity for a results-driven leader to shape the financial success of Jumia in a high-growth region, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver value and ensure compliance in an evolving regulatory environment.
What you will be doing
- Financial Management and Reporting
- Oversee the financial accounting systems and processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash collection, general ledger, payroll, and tax filings.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results, including monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports to the executive leadership team and partners.
- Lead the budgeting process, financial planning, and variance analysis to provide actionable insights.
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all local regulatory, legal, and tax requirements in Kenya and Uganda.
- Implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
- Cash Flow and Treasury
- Evaluate and manage cash flow projections to ensure liquidity across entities.
- Optimize treasury operations, including cash management, banking relationships, and foreign exchange.
- Operational Excellence
- Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with country leadership to align financial objectives with overall business strategy.
What we are looking for
- Education and Experience
- Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience in audit or a senior finance role within an international company, with a strong focus on group reporting, treasury, and tax management.
- Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CFA are a plus.
- Skills and Competencies
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a high-performing finance team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Hands-on and proactive approach; willingness to work closely with operations to solve complex challenges.
