We’re in search of a Senior Game Designer (f/m/d) who can play a pivotal role in creating, what we believe, will be the first MMO of its kind.

So who would you be working with?

You would sit in our Economy and Content Team, responsible for designing, implementing, and refining new content while ensuring a stable and fair in-game economy.

This team works from our Klang HQ in Berlin. 

So, what would you be doing?

  • Developing and implementing strategies to expand in-game content within existing systems and mechanics, enhancing player engagement and retention.
  • Regularly reviewing and optimizing current content for balance, player satisfaction, and in-game economy health.
  • Monitoring and adjusting the game’s economy to ensure it remains fair and stable. 
  • Work closely with the art team to guide the development of new art assets, ensuring they fit within the game’s existing aesthetic and design framework.
  • Actively mentoring junior designers and team members, sharing expertise in game design principles, content development, and economy management.

You could be the person we are searching for if you have…

  • Professional work experience with different games, design tools, and game engines.
  • A strong understanding of game design principles, including game balancing, economy, and player progression systems.
  • Proficiency in technical writing, creative writing, and the use of spreadsheets for game design and analysis.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

Bonus points for…

  • Demonstrated ability managing live game operations, including live events, updates, and community engagement.
  • Proficiency in player data analysis to inform design decisions and optimize engagement and monetization.
  • Experience designing games across multiple platforms, including PC, and mobile.
  • A portfolio that includes commercially successful and critically acclaimed games.
  • Formal leadership roles or the development of mentorship programs within the game development community.

How we get to know you… 

  1. The recruiter screen: You will have a 45-minute interview with one of the Klang Talent Acquisition Team. During this conversation, you will be asked questions about your motivations for joining us here at Klang and to give an overview of your relevant skills/experience. We will also ask you a set of questions that are linked to our company values.

  2. Hiring Manager interview: If successful, you will have a 60-minute interview with Kevin Calvert, our Economy Design Lead. This is usually the person who you would report to and you will dive much deeper into your experience.

  3. Competency interview: A 60-90 minute technical interview focusing on a deep dive into game design principles and economy design challenges.

  4. Final interview: A 60-minute interview with the other Game Design Team members. This is to assess how you would fit into the team as well as for you to decide if you feel there is a team fit from your side.

So what can you expect to be working on after starting with us?

In your first 30 days:

  • Familiarize with project documentation, tools, and processes
  • Meet with key teams and team members to understand roles and methodologies
  • Actively contribute to ideas and preliminary designs, demonstrating an understanding of SEED’s vision
  • Implement content and understand the workflow

In your first 60 days:

  • Deepen contribution to game design by taking on more complex design challenges
  • Drive content projects from design to implementation

In your first 90 days:

  • Strengthen collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure design coherence
  • Develop efficient ways to prototype within the context of our processes

In your first 180 days:

  • Provide feedback for tools and processes to help speed up team velocity
