We’re in search of a Senior UX/UI Designer (f/m/d) who can play a pivotal role in creating what we believe will be the first MMO of its kind.

So, who would you be working with?

You would sit in our UX/UI team, responsible for crafting intuitive and immersive user experiences in SEED. This team works from our Klang HQ in Berlin. Our team is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of design, ensuring that SEED is not just a game, but a living, breathing world.

So, what would you be doing?

  • Designing and developing innovative user interfaces, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes that support player needs and enhance the overall user experience in SEED.
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive design system that includes reusable UI components, visual styles, and interaction patterns, ensuring consistency across all game features and platforms in SEED.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including game designers, artists, and programmers, to ensure successful implementation and iteration of UX/UI design features.
  • Creating clear and concise UX/UI documentation, including journey maps, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes, to effectively communicate design concepts and requirements to the team.
  • Analyzing game data, usability testing results, and player feedback to identify opportunities for improvement in user experience and interface design.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior UX designers, sharing your expertise and fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Staying informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to maintain a cutting-edge understanding of UX design principles and techniques.
  • Participating in regular design reviews and providing constructive feedback to help shape the future direction of the game.

You could be the person we are searching for if you have…

  • 5+ years of experience in UX & UI Design, preferably in PC or cross-platform games.
  • Experience in web and mobile UI design.
  • A portfolio showcasing your design expertise.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a data-informed approach to design decisions.
  • Effective communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams.

Bonus points for…

  • Experience with virtual worlds, life-simulation, or sandbox games.
  • Skills in UI Animation and interactive design.
  • Graphic design proficiency.
  • Familiarity with React or similar languages.
  • Familiarity with Unity.
  • Knowledge of user research methods.

  1. The Recruiter Screen: You will have a 45-minute interview with one of the Klang Talent Acquisition Team members.   2. Hiring Manager: If you progress, the next step is a 1-hour interview with the hiring manager for the Senior UX Designer position. This in-depth discussion will focus on your professional experiences and qualifications in greater detail.
  3. Competency: This stage involves a practical assessment tailored to the role of Senior UX Designer. It's an opportunity for you to showcase your skills and for us to understand how you approach and solve relevant design challenges.
  4. Team Fit: Here, you'll meet with the feature team you would be a part of. This is a crucial step to assess mutual compatibility and how well you would integrate with the team dynamics.
  5. Final Interview: The last step is an interview with our Chief Creative Officer (CCO). This is an opportunity for high-level discussion about your role, your vision for the project, and how you align with the broader objectives of Klang and the SEED project.

What you can expect to be working on after starting with us:

In your first 30 days:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the existing UX/UI design system and standards in SEED.
  • Complete familiarization with current development tools, methods, and workflow, including source control and design pipeline.
  • Become integrated within the cross-functional team, able to ask questions, propose solutions, and provide feedback effectively.
  • Begin contributing to UX/UI design in your assigned area.
  • Initiate a review and audit of the game’s current UX/UI to gather insights and feedback for improvements.

In your first 60 days:

  • Gain deeper understanding of SEED’s personas, their needs, and behaviors, and incorporate these insights into the UX/UI design process.
  • Assume ownership of specific key UX/UI design tasks and initiatives, with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate closely with design, art, and programming teams to ensure seamless execution of UX/UI improvement tasks.

In your first 90 days:

  • Continuously improve and maintain the comprehensive design system for use by the design team.
  • Successfully integrate data analysis, usability testing results, and player feedback into the design process to enhance UX/UI elements in SEED.

In your first 180 days:

  • Take full ownership of all UX/UI design tasks within your assigned area, effectively managing integration and implementation.
  • Conduct comprehensive design reviews and share findings with the team to shape the future direction of SEED.
  • Mentor and guide junior UX designers, fostering a creative and collaborative work environment.
  • Continue to improve and enhance the design system, user interface, and experiences.
  • Keep up with industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating relevant techniques into the design process for SEED.
  • Demonstrate significant contributions in improving the overall user experience and engagement in SEED.
