We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst  to join our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Operations team as a pivotal member of the first line of defense. In this role, you will focus on leveraging robust data analysis techniques, while also possessing an understanding of how machine learning can be effectively applied in the AML domain.


YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough data analysis to uncover patterns, anomalies, and trends within large datasets related to financial transactions, customer behavior, and payment activities.
  • Utilise statistical methods to develop models for detecting potential money laundering activities, with an understanding of how machine learning can complement these efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate data-driven insights into the development and improvement of AML strategies and processes.
  • Apply advanced statistical techniques to design statistical algorithms that enhance the accuracy and efficiency of transaction monitoring systems.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of how data analysis can be effectively employed in the AML landscape.
  • Foster collaboration with the wider group and with key partners by sharing insights and best practices to collectively combat financial crime.
  • Generate clear and actionable reports and dashboards, effectively communicating findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior management.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is preferable.
  • Proven expertise in data analysis and statistical modelling
  • A proven ability to not limit observations to apparent trends within a given dataset but to extrapolate wider insights, predictions and hypotheses.
  • A solid understanding of AML regulations and payment systems.
  • Proficient programming skills, particularly in languages such as Python or R.
  • Extensive experience in data extrapolation to predict future trends and outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
