To make the vision of an autonomously driving mobility service a reality we are building up the new business domain Vehicle Integration with new product development teams. These teams develop the applications and tools needed to enable autonomous passenger management within our MOIA vehicles in a world without a driver: How do passengers authenticate themselves in the vehicle without a driver? How to ensure a safe cabin at all times during boarding and during the ride? Which content should be displayed at the vehicle screens to provide a safe and informative user experience for the passenger?

  • Vehicle Mission: Develops automated vehicle routines across the customer journey. 
  • Cabin Safety: Provides a real-time video stream of the cabin to the remote service operator and actions to interact with the vehicle.
  • Vehicle FoundationBoosts the vehicle feature development process for the three stream-aligned teams by providing platform functionality. Develops modern automated solutions for hardware and software platforms by covering tooling, observability, security, provisioning.

Each team has the necessary roles on board to take full responsibility for the given value streams: from backend and embedded developers to quality specialists, functional safety experts and product owners.

What you will do 

  • Bridge the data flow of the AWS based backend infrastructure and the in-vehicle components using AWS IoT services (e.g. telemetry data, camera stream, metrics) 
  • Develop and improve the backend services used to manage in-vehicle components 
  • Research and develop passenger management systems for an autonomously driving mobility service 
  • Work in a bottom-up managed, autonomous, cross-functional team together with other talented engineers 
  • Participate in the full development life cycle, from design to implementation, quality assurance and maintenance 
  • Interface with VW Group, vendors, and other partners to align on software interfaces, tooling and hardware  

What will help you to fulfil your role  

  • Knowledge of Typescript on the backend and interest in touching other languages 
  • Experience with AWS serverless technologies and AWS IoT 
  • General understanding of the Linux platform and general interest in embedded development (in C++) 
  • Familiarity with communication protocols used to connect edge devices (e.g. MQTT) 
  • Knowledge of current trends in software design, event-driven architecture, DevOps and a strong interest in further development 
  • Interest in applying agile development practices and proactive, flexible and hands-on mindset
