Join us as a Working Student Data Engineer (m/f/d) in our Data Platform team on a shared journey that matters!
The Data Platform team ensures that all data generated at MOIA can be accessed and processed in our data platform. We rely on a wide variety of AWS services to build our data products and keep our stack as serverless as possible. You will work at the core of MOIA's data engine room and interact with colleagues from 25+ different Teams. We provide automation, tools, operate services and evangelize best practices so that data at MOIA is processed efficiently, securely, and privacy-compliantly. We strive towards enabling our users to work as independently and self-sufficiently as possible.
The role and your impact at MOIA
- Explore cutting-edge data engineering topics such as streaming with Apache Iceberg;
- Platforming Airflow for a large and diverse user base;
- Assisting in developing scalable workflow automation improving our CI/CD pipelines.
Job responsibilities and detailed projects will be determined based on your educational background, interests and skills.
What will help you to fulfill your role
- You are currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor's or Master's program for at least 12 more months.
- Effective communication skills and interest in being part of a highly autonomous team.
- We want to act and grow as a team. Collaborating via pair programming, sharing knowledge, and communicating effectively should be something you value in your day-to-day work.
- Programming skills in Python. Knowledge of Typescript ecosystem, and/or SQL is a relevant plus.
- The ability to analyse problems and develop effective solutions.
- Business fluent English skills.
- Familiarity working with data or AWS Cloud is a strong plus.

Student Community
We are a diverse group of mostly students, who are curious, motivated and always eager to learn new things. We are a community of approx. 20 people, living in Hamburg and Berlin. We get together once per quarter to discuss different topics like sharing projects from our daily work or just for a coffee chat.
As a Working Student, you will be working on challenging projects with high impact. You work together with your team, who will help you to identify project goals, while also inspiring you, mentoring you and supporting your professional development.
