THE ROLE

Working as part of WiseEnergy's Global Technical Operations Team you will be part of an international team with members in the UK, US, Italy, Chile, India and other EU countries. The core of this role is daily technical supervision of operations and performance of a solar PV portfolio, delivering daily monitoring, incident tracking and resolution, performance analysis, issue investigation and robust reporting. This is a critical role in terms of ensuring performance is optimized across a client’s portfolio by maximizing uptime and ensuring that risks are mitigated, such as Health & Safety risks; strong management of service providers and other parties of the business is also crucial (e.g. O&M, Utilities, clients, etc.).

Overseeing a portfolio of clients/projects from onboarding and through to business as usual, the Technical Analyst will ensure that they have all the necessary data, technical documentation and information to manage their caseload of solar PV plants effectively with WiseEnergy’s consistent, industry-leading standards.

The position will require occasional domestic travel to visit the sites under asset management to perform asset quality checks and supervise service providers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Working alongside Technical Analyst professionals will play an integral role in the Technical Operations team:

  • Daily supervision and analysis of the Ground Mount PV portfolio’s technical performance and operations.
  • Demonstrate capacity to track plant incidents and H&S risks and take ownership of any resolutions.
  • Optimise the availability and performance ratio of the portfolio under supervision.
  • Manage the relationships with O&M, EPC and other local contractors and Customer Interface on technical issues.
  • Ensure all O&M / other technical service providers achieve, at a minimum, their contractual obligations.
  • Prepare and deliver periodic reports on technical performance and other operational aspects of the plants, as well as supervise the reporting of junior members of the team.
  • Prepare and review yearly budgets, in cooperation with other departments of the Company.
  • Supervise and manage outcomes of the site visits executed by the Site Managers, as well as post-construction punch lists.
  • Supervise and control the technical documentation related to the plants.
  • Support other departments of the Company in providing regular compliance with the DNOs, insurance companies, Public Entities, Auditors, etc.
  • Constant identification and implementation of process improvements.
  • Support the line manager in coordinating activities with the other WiseEnergy departments.
  • Support the line manager in developing a growing and diverse global technical team.
  • Support to the line manager in establishing and maintaining an environment of internal control and integrity.
  • Join and lead team meetings to identify internal stresses and allocate support where needed to foster a collaborative working environment.
  • Train and support more junior analysts as well as share knowledge about the projects under your management with other team members allocated to different markets.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have experience in Solar PV, preferably on the operational side. O&M background with construction experience is ideal.
  • Have visited and technically audited solar farms.
  • Have knowledge of Solar PV or other renewable operations.
  • Very good knowledge of the local H&S rules and regulations.
  • Be able to read relevant documentation such as As-Built Drawings, Commissioning documentation, PPAs, and Connection Agreements.
  • Have knowledge of SCADA systems, IT and telecommunications as deployed across the solar sector.
  • Liaise with EPCs to complete a checklist of documents required by the authorities.
  • Review and challenge EPCs and TAs calculations related to Substantial/Final Completion or other milestones.
  • Liaise with the TA for the generation of punch lists and pursue open points with the EPC until final resolution.
  • Be able to identify and critically assess issues causing underperformance, to lead on the understanding of the root cause and suggested mitigation.
  • Negotiation skills needed for negotiations with EPCs, O&Ms and other players.
  • Develop and enhance relations with EPC, O&M providers and other players.
  • Have experience in the production of client reports.
  • Proved experience in on-field measurements (I-V tests, insulation tests, thermography, etc.).
  • Knowledge of programming languages will be beneficial.
  • Have a valid driving license.
  • Have the right to work in NC for the length of this assignment.
