The Company

Octopus Legacy is the place to plan for death and find support after loss. When people think about planning for death they think about wills, life insurance and funerals. We take these cold processes and turn them into something more human. Share more than money: leave voice notes, music, recipes. Shape a legacy that connects you while you're here. And after you're gone.

Founded by Sam after his mum died suddenly, we’re a group of people who work in death because we’ve been affected by it. We know the difference a good plan makes, and what it’s like when there isn’t one.

Death can come between us, leaving mess, legal fees, frustration. But it can also make us stronger. We see a world where people talk openly about death, and work out the real meaning of legacy, one that connects to them. We’re here to make that world happen.

The Role

We’re looking for a Brand Designer to join our growing Marketing team. You’ll be taking our rebrand to the next level, using design to change attitudes to death, tell stories, drive action, educate and help millions of customers connect and trust Octopus Legacy.

The ideal candidate will be ambitious, self-starting, and looking to build their career within design and marketing. This person should be bursting with creative ideas and know exactly how to implement them with great design and have a strong attention to detail. We work strategically so this candidate will also need to confidently optimise their work using performance data.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will take the foundations laid from the rebrand and develop them so that our brand is clearly and consistently articulated across all channels.
  • Being the brand guardian across every touch point, from product, marketing & sales, customer service, to legal and beyond. You will ensure our brand is represented in its best light and you’ll be the go-to person and authority on design and our creative output.
  • Thinking of and developing creative concepts and campaigns and taking them through to execution.
  • Collaborating with our content teams (social media, blogs, print, events) to deliver eye-catching creative assets (some static, some motion, some online, some in-person).
  • You’ll work with performance data to create design that drive higher reach and engagement, and continue to push the boundaries and learn from what we do.
  • You’ll work closely with our Product Designer to ensure that we’re all moving in the same visual direction, and you will inform others about creative learnings across your channels. We don’t improve in isolation!

This role will give you the opportunity to

  • Develop: You’ll get to hone in on your design across a mixed and understanding of Organic Social channels, be encouraged to level up your skills and strategic thinking, and work with performance data to constantly improve upon your creative work.
  • Be creative: You’ll be a big part of our ever evolving look and feel, encouraged to push boundaries and bring innovation. You’ll be a respected brand guardian.
  • Have real impact: You’ll join our exciting mission to make money without borders the new normal.

Who Are You?

  • You're creative, bursting with ideas, but with the focus to execute them and bring them to life to a high standard.
  • You’re analytical and always looking to grow – you constantly want to look at data to understand how your designs have performed and when to improve on them.
  • You’re experienced across multiple media - from print, social media, video, digital, in-person, to out of home.
  • You’re passionate and curious about space. You are constantly thinking about how to jump on reactive trends, and set trends of your own.
  • You understand the ‘why’ before diving into the creative.
  • You’re autonomous and able to manage your time, flex to different teams and are used to meeting tight deadlines. You thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • You can demonstrate great typographic, layout and technical skills. Understanding brand guidelines isn’t a challenge for you.
  • You have an eagle eye for detail even when you are working to multiple tight deadlines.
  • You’re a wiz when it comes to Photoshop and Illustrator. But can adapt to new platforms.
  • You make a habit of going above and beyond.

Benefits

  • Flexible working: 3 days in the office (London, Holborn) you can work remotely up to 2 days a week.
  • Work from anywhere in the world for up to 4 weeks per year.
  • An extra holiday day for your birthday
  • Life insurance, Health insurance, Will & LPAs
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Octopus share incentive scheme
  • Cycle to Work Scheme and access to the Electric Vehicle (EV) Salary Sacrifice Scheme.
  • Octopus Giving: we match any charitable fundraising that you do up to £500.
  • Octopus Springboard: where we help our employees become fully-fledged entrepreneurs.

We know that to be truly innovative, we need to have a diverse team around us. That is why Octopus Legacy is committed to creating an inclusive environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
