The United Kingdom is facing an unprecedented cost of living crisis. Inflation has soared to 9.0% (the highest it has been in 40 years), the cost of energy, food and other necessities have gone through the roof and interest rates have risen for the first time in decades. As a result, we are seeing more and more individuals and families going into debt, due to circumstances out of their control.

Unfortunately, the way companies engage with customers facing debt problems is deeply broken - it is an analogue, robotic, one-size-fits-all approach that does not take the individual's circumstances into consideration and is too often managed by antiquated debt collection agencies, who still use analogue and predatory tactics to engage with consumers.

At Ophelos, we take a radically different approach. We are building software and AI products that help individuals and businesses manage debt in a more humane and efficient way. Our products support individuals and families on their journey to becoming debt-free, and positively impact millions of people's lives.

Ophelos launched in June of 2021 and agreed to be acquired by Intrum in 2023. We count some of the UK’s leading companies as our clients from high-growth fintech startups like Butter and Creditspring to billion-pound companies like Klarna and Octopus.

The Role - Senior Delivery Manager

We are excited to make our first Senior Delivery hire, who will shape and drive the delivery of our complex tech products.

Ophelos are on an accelerated journey to roll out our products to 17 European countries - enabling us to support the financial health of millions of people. At the same time we will look to develop new, innovative ways to deliver value to our customers and clients.

As Senior Delivery Manager, you’ll take the helm in establishing and cultivating a culture of excellence in product delivery at Ophelos. This is a pivotal role, reporting directly to the CTO, that will also involve empowering less experienced team members and fostering a positive and collaborative atmosphere conducive to growth and innovation throughout teams.

In this role, you’ll get to: 

  • Drive the execution of initiatives as we rollout Ophelos across European markets and innovate our products - embedding best in class practices throughout our organisation
  • Collaborate closely with the wider Data, Engineering and Product teams to create and carry out the delivery plan
  • Manage and develop relationships with Ophelos stakeholders, acting as an advocate for innovation and change, whilst driving alignment across Tech, Commercial and Operations
  • Contribute to developing the product roadmap for the company from a delivery perspective, and successfully align the leadership and team members to follow roadmap schedule
  • Automate and enhance current processes and administrative tasks to drive efficiencies throughout our teams (applying Agile methodologies and modern PM techniques)
  • Enhance existing reporting and forecasting processes covering timings & scope

About you

We believe that no one is the finished article, however, some experience in the following is important for this role:

  • You have at least 4 years experience delivering medium-large scale technical projects (proficient using PM techniques) - any start-up and scale-up experience would be a bonus
  • You have excellent communication and organisation skills and are a great time manager
  • You have exceptional stakeholder management skills, understanding how to facilitate strong solutions
  • You thrive in ambiguity and are passionate about solving complex problems to enable our ambitious growth plans
  • Experience rolling out products across various countries would be beneficial
  • You are excited about Ophelos’ mission to support households and businesses to break the vicious debt cycle
