Role description
As a Platform Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and deployment of high-performance and scalable platforms. You will also be responsible for maintaining the platform's reliability and security, as well as ensuring its compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their requirements and ensure that the platforms meet their needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with other teams at Powerdot to understand their requirements and ensure that the platform meets their needs.
- Lead and manage a team of software engineers responsible for building and maintaining the core platform that powers our charges.
- Set technical direction for the team and ensure that best practices are followed.
- Mentor and grow the technical skills of the engineers on the team.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the team when needed.
- Work with the product management team to prioritise features and plan releases.
- Ensure that the platform is built with high standards of quality, reliability, and security.
Skills required
- Strong experience with building and deploying microservices architectures using Java and Spring Boot.
- Strong experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
- Strong understanding of database systems, both relational and non-relational, and experience with database design and optimization.
- Familiarity with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ and Kafka.
- Familiarity with containerization and container orchestration using technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- A servant leadership style with a focus on empowering and supporting the team.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in the EV charging industry is a plus but not required.
