About You 

With a track record in software development, you will be adept at guiding your team to build high-quality and fully performing software in compliance with coding standards and technical design. A trusted professional who takes pride in mentoring less senior team members. You will communicate well at all levels and through all channels. Our team is small but growing and you will need to be self-motivated, highly organized and able to multitask and prioritize. 

The Role: 

To lead the development of our Microsoft 365 Active Digital Preservation integration product. Working closely with both the CTO and Head of Engineering to ensure that project and product goals are met. Overseeing the day to day effort of our C# .Net Azure development team within an Agile environment. Defining and promoting software engineering best practice. Providing technical leadership particularly around Microsoft 365 (Sharepoint, Exchange, MSTeams etc).  

Our offices are in Abingdon, but this role can be either office-based or worked remotely in the UK. 

Knowledge & Experience: 

  • Degree level education in an engineering/software/system related subject or equivalent. 
  • Strong familiarity with Agile development practices. 
  • 10+ years experience in enterprise level Microsoft applications development. 
  • 3-5 years line management experience. 
  • Be able to communicate with senior level stakeholders and be involved, not just with the requirements presented, but also guiding the team and advising in design discussions. 
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment as well as the willingness to define a direction when consensus cannot be reached. 
  • Able to effectively balance long-term strategic work against the day-to-day hands-on work 
  • Strong desire to share your knowledge with the rest of the team.
  • Extremely strong written and verbal skills 

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Solid C# and .net core application development skills 
  • Excellent Object Oriented software development skills with modern practices – CI/CD, TDD, Test automation, SOLID principles, Clean architecture 
  • Unit & integration testing ideally using and Moq 
  • Multi-tenanted SaaS application development on Microsoft Azure 
  • Document databases, preferably using MongoDB 
  • Sound knowledge of Azure DevOps – Repos, Pipelines, Boards 

Desired Technical Skills: 

  • Infrastructure as code with Terraform 
  • Web UI development using React.js, Typescript and Jest. 
  • Message-driven architectures, ideally with Azure Service Bus and Mass Transit sagas 
  • Azure functions 
  • Enterprise security architecture using Azure Key Vault 
  • Understanding of Azure Active Directory and Microsoft 365 APIs (Graph, CSOM) and Admin centres 
  • Microsoft Power platform, especially BI 
  • Compliance management in Microsoft 365 using Purview
