The engineering team structure and where this role sits

The engineering team will be working on a number of different products or projects at any given time. Those product teams are insulated from unplanned support issues but release resources for fixed periods of time to the support & small enhancements team. This role is technical leader of support & small enhancements team.

Day to day

  • This is a hands-on technical role. You will have engineers assigned to the team to help out
  • Adapt the team as the company, products and people change and grow
  • Technically lead engineers that are assigned to the team
  • Work closely with product, software engineers, QA and delivery to prepare for change
  • Triage issues and enhancements with product accounting for technical impact
  • Translate system metrics into alerts and then act upon those in an appropriate manner to maintain overall production health
  • Be an escalation point for on-call, including overnight
  • There is no immediate requirement for direct reports but you should be prepared to adapt if this is required
  • Maintain and manage support rotas
  • Continuous review of processes, tooling and team mechanics
  • Work closely with Customer Services
