Your Role
As a Lead Data Platform Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering scalable, microservices - based applications on AWS, powering a data platform that processes billions of records and supports critical decision-making across the organization. Your day-to-day will involve collaborating with business stakeholders and product teams to translate complex requirements into secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions that handle massive data volumes. You’ll lead by example, mentoring a team of engineers, setting technical standards, and ensuring the platform remains robust, efficient, and future-ready.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Application Design and Development: Leading the design and implementation of microservices-based applications on AWS using services Lambda, SQS, ECS, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
- Scalable System Design: Architect solutions that ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability while defending efficiency.
- Integration and APIs: Designing and developing RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services, including AI services.
- AI Integration: Designing and implementing solutions integrating AI models via APIs, such as AWS Bedrock, or large language models (LLMs). Leverage AI for automation, personalization, and enhanced user experiences.
- Leadership: Building, leading, managing, inspiring, and growing a team of engineers while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and diverse team environment.
- DevOps Collaboration: Working with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging for seamless deployment and system reliability.
- Security and Compliance: Implementing robust security measures and ensure compliance with data protection standards in cloud environments.
- Code Quality: Writing clean, testable, and maintainable code, conducting peer reviews to uphold code quality.
- Continuous Improvement: Staying up to date with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies, especially in AI and cloud-native development.
Your Profile
To succeed in this role you:
- Have 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on building cloud-native and AI-enhanced applications.
- Have 3+ years of experience managing and leading teams.
- Have expertise in AWS services and CloudFormation (e.g. Lambda functions, ECS, S3, DynamoDB, API Gateway) or other equivalent services on other cloud platforms, focusing on designing and optimizing scalable solutions.
- Have strong knowledge of microservices architecture, RESTful API design, and event-driven systems.
- Have strong experience in Python and message queues and asynchronous processing (e.g., SQS, Celery, RabbitMQ).
- Have solid understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Are Familiar with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
- Have excellent communication and leadership skills to guide and mentor development teams.
- Have strong understanding of security best practices for application and AI development.
Preferably you:
- Have experience integrating AI/ML models using APIs such as AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, or other LLM providers is a big plus
- Are familiar with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, or FAISS) and techniques like text embedding for AI applications.
- Have sound knowledge of observability-driven development
