Job Overview
The senior application scientist will be responsible for the application development of ongoing R&D projects by working closely with the different functions within the project (product management, product marketing, software, systems etc.). They will be responsible for this development until the project reaches first market launch, making sure the product and market requirements are being met. This will include identifying the key areas of development needed; the planning and prioritisation of testing; the compiling, analysing and presenting of results and supporting the applications scientists in product marketing with their collaborations with external partners.
They will also play a large role within Refeyn in guiding our culture for good experimental design and clear and concise reporting of testing conclusions.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of the application development for products being developed for first market launch.
- Define the application strategy for the new developing products.
- Define key test plans for the different phases of product development and define their priority.
- Identifying and developing benchmarking samples and testing for new products.
- Identifying and developing product specific application samples for new products.
- Carry out application development in close communication with other members of the product development team.
- Deliver documentation and be responsible for developing the required acceptance criteria for pilot production released products.
- Responsibility for defining and documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new products.
- Working with the applications members of Refeyn to define good experimental design practice and result communication.
Candidate Requirements
- PhD/M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related subject
- 4+ year industry experience
- Excellent knowledge of Biochemistry and Biological Sciences
- Good knowledge of Biophysics principles
- Flexible mind-set to change research strategy when required
- Ability to multi-task and work in several projects in parallel
- Strong attention to detail and scientific methodology
- Good communication skills to varying audiences
- Strong experimental planning, documentation, result analysis and presentation
- Excellent teamworking skills and proficient in working within cross-functional teams
