Position Description 

As leading maritime safety and environmental experts, RightShip is forging ahead with an ambitious vision to further influence safety, sustainability and crew welfare by leveraging the latest innovation, digital transformation, data and customer-centric solutions. To this end, we are in search of a proactive and technically adept Principal Lead, Digital Transformation who will be at the forefront of our digital transformation journey, working directly under the CTO. 

As a seasoned Principal Lead, Digital Transformation, your unique blend of technical expertise, project management acumen, and change management skills will be critical. You will spearhead digital initiatives, from the scoping phase through to implementation, orchestrating the changes necessary to drive digitalization throughout RightShip. Your knowledge of tech trends and digital solutions will be paramount in guiding RightShip through this transformative process, ensuring the appropriate technologies are employed to maximize business efficiency and growth. 

Your role will encompass planning, coordinating, and leading activities across the full digital transformation lifecycle. This will involve close collaboration with departmental Product Managers, the architect team, data scientists, and software developers, as well as liaising with key project stakeholders as required. 

Your rich project management background will ensure the successful delivery of transformation projects, helping RightShip seamlessly navigate the digital change landscape. Equally, your understanding of technology will guide teams and stakeholders through the intricacies of digital transformation, ensuring all are equipped and committed to the change. 

This role presents a unique array of challenges and responsibilities, as well as the chance to shape the future direction of the department and the technology employed across the business. As our Principal Lead, Digital Transformation, you will be instrumental in making RightShip a digital-first, future-ready organization. 


Major Responsibilities   

  • Digital Strategy Execution: 
    Collaborate with senior leadership to translate the company's digital strategy into actionable plans and initiatives. 
    Lead the implementation of digital projects, ensuring they align with business goals and contribute to the overall growth and efficiency of the organization. 
  • Data Analytics and Insights: 
    Collaborate closely with Product Managers, QA teams, and data scientists to manage the transition from analysis through to design and delivery. 
    Leverage data analytics tools to extract valuable insights, and work with analysts to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations for business improvement. 
  • Change Management: 
    Drive the digital transformation journey within the organization, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. 
    Engage with teams to overcome resistance to change, encouraging the adoption of new digital processes and tools. 
  • Project Management: 
    Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of digital projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. 
    Implement agile methodologies to streamline workflows and adapt to changing project requirements. 
  • Customer-Centric Solutions: 
    Ensure all RightShip's products can be effectively modeled and sold on the digital sales platform. 
    Collaborate with client-facing teams to incorporate data insights into products and services, enhancing the customer experience and meeting client needs effectively. 
  • Technology Assessment and Implementation: 
    Evaluate emerging technologies, assessing their potential to enhance business operations. 
    Lead the adoption and integration of new technologies, ensuring a smooth transition and maximum benefit realization. 
  • Performance Tracking and Reporting: 
    Monitor digital transformation progress, adjusting strategies as necessary to stay on track towards established goals. 
    Establish KPIs to measure the success of digital initiatives, providing regular reports and updates to senior management. 
  • Risk Management and Compliance: 
    Identify potential risks associated with digital transformation efforts and develop risk mitigation strategies. 
    Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations throughout the digital initiatives. 
  • Team Development: 
    Support project resource scheduling, department capacity planning, and assume ownership, development, and management of allocated departmental processes. 
    Mentor and guide team members, fostering their professional growth and development. 
  • Business Case Development: 
    Develop and articulate comprehensive business cases for proposed digital transformations, outlining the potential cost savings, benefits, and strategic alignment, including quantifiable metrics and projections. 


Qualifications, Skills & Experience  

  • Pivotal Experiences: Proven experience in managing digital transformation projects and initiatives within a data-driven organization. Strong understanding of data analytics, data governance, and data-driven decision-making processes. 
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Stack, Python libraries for data processing, AI, Machine Learning, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technologies. Understanding of various software development methodologies, including Scrum and Agile. 
  • Problem Solving & Leadership: Strong problem-solving abilities with excellent facilitation, coaching, and team leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to drive change, manage complexities, and adapt to dynamic business environments. 
  • Team Collaboration: Comfortable working with remote and multicultural teams, with the ability to prioritize and carry out multiple tasks. Excellent leadership and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior executives effectively. 
  • Influence & Drive: Proven ability to influence and drive projects to meet milestones and overcome challenges. Desire to remain technically capable and an expert in current and emerging technologies. 
  • Digital Strategy & Implementation: Experience in implementing digital strategies and managing digital platforms, including RPA initiatives, with a clear understanding of how digital transformation drives business value. Familiarity with emerging digital technologies and trends in the data insights industry. 
  • User Experience Design: Familiarity with digital user experience design and its relevance in successful digital transformation. 
  • Operational Efficiency: Experience in identifying and implementing RPA solutions for operational efficiency. Maritime and Geospatial data knowledge is highly preferable. 
  • Successful Leadership History: Successful history of digital transformation leadership, data-driven decision-making, cross-functional collaboration, change management, and strategic alignment with business objectives. The candidate should possess a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for driving innovation and growth through digital means. 
  • Project Management Expertise: Project management expertise with a track record of delivering successful digital projects. 
  • Education: Masters or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or equivalent disciplines. 
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years' experience in a technology leadership role, with proven experience in Project Management, Scoping, and Change Management.
