Your mission
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to more junior team members, fostering their growth and development in Data engineering
- Lead and take full accountability for the design, development, and deployment of Data engineering solutions to solve complex business problems, encompassing the architectural definition and end-to-end data lifecycle journey from ingestion through to end-user reporting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements and translate them into scalable and performant Data solutions
- Provide streamlined and self-service processes and interfaces to integrate and extend the data pipeline capabilities enabling autonomy in all product teams
- Drive the implementation of best practices, standards, and efficient processes to ensure the reliability, scalability, and accuracy of Data models and systems
- Build and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources
- Monitor and optimize the performance of data pipelines and data processing systems
- Lead and contribute to research and development projects, driving innovation and influencing the path of Data engineering within the organization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements and translate them into scalable and performant Data solutions
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, presenting complex Data concepts and findings in a clear and concise manner
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Data, identifying and evaluating new frameworks and technologies that can push further our Data capabilities, and ultimately deciding which ones we should use
- Bootstrapping a data engineering team at an early stage in the team's evolution
Your profile
- 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining end-to-end Data solutions in real-world applications
- Familiar with stacks using technologies such as Python, AWS (DMS, Redshift), Java, Spark, Kafka, and SQL; and proficiency with Data libraries and frameworks
- You are curious about and motivated by the latest data engineering technologies, best practises, techniques and future trends in data, AI/ML, and analytics
- Solid understanding of up-keeping and growing a data architecture by envisioning the company needs while pushing the state of the art in building scalable data platforms
- Solid understanding of Data concepts for ingesting, storing, serving data
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach complex problems in a structured and systematic manner
- The ability to deal directly with business functions and interpret their thoughts into successful data & analytics solutions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration, stakeholder management, and mentorship
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience in leading Data projects, guiding teams, and driving technical excellence
- Fluent in English and optionally German
- You are a team player and open-minded for after-work socialising.
