As we continue to expand our horizons, we are seeking a talented and driven individual to join our dynamic team as the Head of External Marketplaces (f/m/d) and drive innovation forward. The role is full-time and offers the flexibility to work on-site at our Leipzig headquarters or remotely within Germany.
What Will Your Role Be
Our global flagship consumer brand Spreadshirt is planning to strongly expand its business and presence on the well-known online marketplaces around Amazon, eBay and Co. For that growth mission, we are seeking a highly motivated and result-driven Head of External Marketplaces (f/m/d) who can make a significant impact and propel our business to the next level. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for the profitability and growth of our business via external marketplaces. As a strategic leader, you will play a pivotal role in driving new growth opportunities. Initially, you will lead a team of 6, which will expand as the business grows.
What You´ll Do
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to maximize revenue and profitability through marketplaces, including Amazon and eBay.
- Drive the expansion of our business into new markets and marketplaces by identifying and capitalizing on market opportunities.
- Analyze marketplace trends, competitor activities, and customer insights to identify new growth areas and optimize existing operations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with marketplace partners, negotiating favorable terms, and ensuring compliance with platform requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams such as marketing, operations, and product development to align strategies and achieve business objectives.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly report on the financial performance of the external marketplace business to the Commercial Director and executive team.
- Lead a growing team of dedicated marketplace specialists, providing guidance, support, and fostering a culture of innovation and high-performance.
- Optimize business operations (processes, tooling etc.) towards higher effectiveness and efficiency.
What You´ll Bring
- 10+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in a multi-channel B2C e-commerce environment with strong exposure to Amazon
- Experience in a marketplaces agency or in digital strategy consulting is a plus
- University degree in business, marketing, or a related field. MBA or equivalent preferred
- Strategic thinker with a growth mindset, constantly seeking opportunities for innovation and improvement – ideally with demonstrated success in developing and executing growth initiatives.
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to extract actionable insights from complex data sets and translate them into strategic initiatives.
- Strong financial acumen, experience in managing P&L responsibility is a plus
- Great leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of driving high performance and motivating others.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and inspire stakeholders at all levels.
- Solid negotiation skills and experience in building and maintaining successful partnerships.
- Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal skills in English, additional language(s) a plus
