As we continue to expand our horizons, we are seeking a talented and driven individual to join our dynamic team as the Lead Database Administrator (f/m/d) and drive innovation forward.  The role is full-time and offers the flexibility to work on-site at our Leipzig headquarters or remotely within Germany.

What Will Your Role Be

As Lead Database Administrator, you will be an integral part of our Database Operations Team. You'll play a role in planning the future development of our database systems, ensuring they remain reliable and aligned with our objectives for data preservation and security. You will be the team's most experienced member, carrying the primary responsibility for key technical services. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in shaping significant decisions, guiding our direction, and ensuring our database systems align effectively with our goals.

What You’ll Do

• You will be responsible for the management (planning, coordination, installation, administration, monitoring) of the provided services in the area of databases and messaging.
• You will gain in-depth knowledge of our deployed technologies and jointly manage them with your team colleagues.
• This includes technologies such as MySQL/Percona XtraDB/Galera Cluster, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, ElasticSearch, Filebeat, Patroni, Zookeeper/KRaft, etc.
• You will take ownership of multiple technologies and actively drive the development of these and the entire tech stack.
• You will serve as a point of contact for performance, troubleshooting, scalability, and high availability questions.
• You will assist users of our services in general usage as well as in specific inquiries and requirements.
• You will maintain continuous communication with our system engineers in neighboring teams, as well as with the team and tech leads of other teams to coordinate work beyond team boundaries.
• You will evaluate new technologies, plan changes, expansions, and updates, and independently or collaboratively implement these and new ideas with your colleagues.
• You will play a crucial role in the evolution and future shaping of the database landscape and technologies.
• You will organize your own work and the team's work in alignment with agile methods.

What You'll Bring

• You have several years of experience in handling and administering Linux systems and servers.
• You possess advanced knowledge in our technology stack.
• You are proficient in at least one scripting language such as Python, Bash, Ruby, Go, or similar.
• You have prior exposure to Configuration Management Tools like Puppet (preferred), Ansible, or Chef.
• Your strong analytical and logical thinking enables you to independently solve problems.
• You are keen on advancing your knowledge in the field of database administration and other contemporary technologies.
• You are unafraid to evaluate and implement new technologies in the realms of databases, searching, and messaging.
• You're prepared to take on responsibilities for various subject areas and technologies, ensuring their optimal care and development.
• You are a dedicated team player and communicate effectively with your colleagues.
• You have a good command of the English language.
