The Role:

You will be hired by our Chinese entity, Stenn Shanghai Ltd as the Legal Representative. The Legal Representative will be involved with overseeing and management of all legal affairs related to our operations in China with regards to all internal business processes, including executing contracts with other Stenn Group entities, external service providers and any employees Stenn Shanghai Ltd choosesto hire in the future.

As Legal Representative, you will be responsible for ensuring the entity stays in compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements while also executing all of the decisions, resolutions and changes put forward by the business. To ensure success in the role, you will have sound knowledge and understanding of PRC company laws
and regulations.

You will be responsible for overall record keeping for the entity, including the taking and dissemination of board meeting minutes and organisation of all corporate
documentation.

You will work closely with the legal team in London and the US to ensure that the entity is operationally ready for the ordinary course of business in China. You will also be asked to help provide day-to-day legal support in relation to China and, in particular, contractual matters.

The ideal candidate will have excellent project management, communication and relationship skills, the highest ethical standards, and will be excited by seeking out innovative business solutions.

Who You Are 

  • Knowledge of statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to our business.
  • Legal professional with at least 5 years’ relevant experience. (Experience of being a Legal Representative for a PRC entity is desirable).
  • Knowledge and understanding of PRC company laws and regulations, including PRC board meeting procedural requirements and company record keeping and filing obligations.
  • Experience of working within the trade finance industry in Asia is desirable.
  • Reviewing and negotiating terms and conditions of service provider contracts.
  • General in-house legal experience of dealing with commercial contracts, NDA’s, employment, litigation, and data protection/security matters.
  • Experience in handling a high volume of activity involving multiple, often complex transactions.
  • Experience with financial and technological products.
  • Ability to work in a small legal team and comfortable with a “scale-up” culture.
  • Excitement about building career in the financial technology enabling offering financial and adjacent products to corporate clients.
  • Highly articulate - able to negotiate, provide clear advice and communicate at all levels of the business.
  • Proactive self-starter with ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Forward thinking - produces new ideas and insights and seeks opportunities for change and improvement.
  • Upholds ethics and values, acts with integrity.
  • Demonstrates interest in others, works effectively in teams, builds team spirit and shows care and consideration for individuals.
