Stenn is one of the leading FinTechs in Europe and a category leader in the verticals and markets it operates in. Founded in 2015, Stenn’s purpose is to connect international SMEs to the global financial system, helping to bridge a reported $3.6 trillion (USD) financing gap through a fast, simple online platform. To date, Stenn has enabled over $18 billion (USD) of finance to SMEs in 3 verticals and 4 markets, with capital provided by several blue-chip banks and institutional fund managers across the globe.

Rapid expansion continues at Stenn, as under-served SMEs seek financing solutions to manage significant macroeconomic and supply chain disruption; and this follows our $50 million Series A fundraise in 2022, valuing Stenn at $900 million.

Our HQ is in London with employees across the globe, including the USA, Europe and China. We are made up of diverse, highly skilled professionals who work in an innovative way to develop and drive our business further. Our people are empowered to work autonomously through a trusting leadership style which encourages learning.

The Role:

To support Stenn’s expansion plans, we are looking for our first Payroll and Commissions Manager. This role will report to the Global Tax and Accounting Director and will encompass payroll and commissions globally. It’s an exciting opportunity to build this function and systems from the ground up, consolidate our current processes and be part of shaping our ambitious growth journey.

This position requires previous experience in end-to-end payroll processing for multiple locations, including the UK, US and China, plus other jurisdictions as required. As we are establishing our first fully fledged Revenue Team, the ideal candidate should also have in-depth knowledge of sales commission processes and tools.

If you’re ready to jump onboard a fast-paced, industry-leading scaleup, with full ownership for designing, rolling out and maintaining payroll and commissions processes, this could be the ideal opportunity for you!

Responsibilities:

Payroll

  • End-to-end payroll processing for all Stenn locations globally.
  • Management and selection of payroll vendors.
  • Establishing new payrolls in line with Stenn’s  geographic expansion plans.

  • Liaison with the People & Culture to ensure all changes are captured and processed.
  • Manage payroll queries from employees.
  • Pension processing.
  • Handling employee equity scheme payments and tax deductions.
  • Liaison with government agencies (i.e. HMRC, IRS, etc).
  • BACS payment processing and dealing with P45, P60, “pink slips” and W-2s.
  • Supporting ad-hoc finance projects.

Sales Commissions

  • Ensuring accurate and timely compensation for sales representatives and other employees assigned to commission-based compensation plans.
  • Overseeing all commission calculation, tracking, and payout processes, based on trade data from Operations.
  • Validating and reconciling commission data to ensure accuracy; resolving any discrepancies or errors.
  • Establish and maintain commissions management software and processes to accurately calculate commissions based on predefined rules and metrics.
  • Develop, implement, standardise and maintain class leading commission plans in collaboration with the Sales and People & Culture teams.
  • Generating commission statements and reports for sales representatives and management, providing clear visibility into commission earnings and performance metrics.
  • Developing a close working relationship with the Sales Strategy Team, particularly as it relates to commission plan changes and launches. Stakeholder management and relationship building will be vital here.

Success in the role:

  • Building strong relationships with People & Culture, Sales and Operations.
  • Consolidation of our current payroll processes to make them fit for Stenn’s growth.
  • Automation of our payroll processes where possible.
  • Establishing and embedding Stenn’s Sales Commission process.

Background/Experience:

  • Experience of building payroll and commissions processes from scratch and scaling up as the business grows.
  • Strong understanding of building and maintaining global payroll processes.
  • Expertise in payroll regulations in the countries in which we operate.
  • Experience with HiBob, Sage and ADP is an advantage but not essential.
  • Clear examples of managing senior stakeholders across multiple geographies and teams to build relationships and maintain process consistency.
  • Strong understanding of sales compensation principles, commission structures and performance metrics.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organised, with a strong focus on accuracy and data integrity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively, influence others and be a business partner for all payroll and commission matters, across multiple teams and levels of the organisation.

We appreciate the support recruitment agencies can provide, however our in-house team do not require any 3rd party assistance at this time.
