Stitch is a payments infrastructure company on a mission to make it easier for enterprise businesses to connect to the financial system and build better experiences for their customers.

We are expanding the team to enable Stitch to broaden our product offering and extend our geographical footprint.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Data Engineer will focus on architecting and enhancing Stitch’s data infrastructure, prioritizing scalability, stability, and efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of data system architecture to innovate and improve existing frameworks, ensuring they meet evolving business demands. The successful candidate will also liaise with various business units, translating complex data systems into actionable insights and strategic solutions.

Key responsibilities 

  1. Design, build, and optimize data architecture and pipeline systems to support business objectives.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement the most suitable data engineering solutions.
  3. Develop and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines that can handle high volumes of data from various sources.
  4. Learn and understand a broad range of Stitch’s data resources and know when, how, and which to use and which not to use.
  5. Coordinate with different departments to ensure the seamless integration of data systems into the company's broader technology infrastructure.
  6. Lead the planning and implementation of data management strategies to ensure data accuracy, availability, and security.
  7. Establish and enforce guidelines for data handling and processing to maintain data integrity and compliance with data privacy regulations.
  8. Continuously monitor, test, and improve the performance of data systems and databases.
  9. Implement efficient data storage practices and optimize data retrieval processes.
  10. Manage and own the entire data processing system (internally, as well as interfacing with other teams or third party services), provide advice on any necessary infrastructure changes
  11. Participate in building machine learning models, deliver analyses and insights to support business decision making

Requirements

  • 4+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modelling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines, utilising realtime and batch processing techniques
  • Strong first-hand experience with data pipelines and relational databases such as Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server or MySQL
  • Strong business mindset and ability to grasp business requirements from stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning is a plus
