Job description
As an electronics engineer, you will develop cutting-edge Quantum Key Distribution systems that use quantum phenomena for secure communication between users. Working closely with a team of physicists and engineers, you will design and realise complex PCB layouts connecting the worlds of digital and quantum. Your job will involve overseeing the PCB's development from the start, including designing, building prototypes, and final testing.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop Schematics and PCB layouts for quantum communication systems
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, providing expertise in PCB integration and contributing to the overall success of the project
- Oversee the prototype assembly process and communicate with fabrication houses
- Conduct rigorous testing and troubleshooting of PCBs, implementing design changes based on feedback to optimize performance and reliability
- Maintain accurate design files, BOMs, and technical documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards
- Stay informed about new PCB technologies and design techniques to continuously improve design quality and efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in PCB design and layout (preferably Altium Designer)
- Experience overseeing prototype assembly and collaborating with fabrication houses to address manufacturing challenges
- Experience in testing, troubleshooting, and refining PCBs
- Experience with analog and mixed circuits designs (i.e., operational amplifiers circuits, analog-to-digital converters)
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with telecom equipment development
- Knowledge of transimpedance amplifiers and noise in operational amplifiers
- Documentation skills, including maintaining design files, BOMs, and technical documentation for production and certification
- Familiarity with industry standards, environmental regulations, and the latest PCB technologies and design techniques
- Experience of work with microcontrollers and digital interfaces
- Experience in 3D modelling (particularly 3D CAD)
